FOUR-WAY TEST
4-Way Test was recited by Marti Correa de Garcia:
The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

MEGA BUCKS
Blas Garza pledged a Mega Buck honoring February 3rd day of Saint Blaise.
Guy de Mangeon pledged a Mega Buck in honor of Patricia Juin’s birthday. Cathy Calabro led us in singing Happy Birthday to Patricia.
Cathy Calabro pledged a Mega Buck because all for students for the RYLA program have been choosen (along with an alternate). She also thanked Jacqueline Duran for her help in getting the final students.
Terry Straehley pledged a Mega Buck because Pat and he will be leaving on Sunday for a cruise around the Panama Canal, and after visiting their son and Pat’s sister in Florida.
Father Larry pledged a Mega Buck because he just returned from Hawaii (his first trip to the islands). He visited the Island of Molokai where a leper colony existed in Kalaupapa run by Father Damien.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Kim Bish asked for a moment of silence honoring the passing of Gary K. Hart, past State of California Senator. Kim has fond memories of Senator Hart.

SPEAKER – GARY LINKER
Gary Linker moved to Santa Barbara in 1972. He is the current Clinical Director of the Center for Successful Aging and also an active member of the community. He has a great philosophy emphasizing that it is not easy being a senior. But with aging, a new level of maturity can be achieved and most importantly should bring “Inner Peace”. When we’re young we plant seeds and throughout our lives we water those seeds and eventually we harvest our seeds. We need to take time and see what we’ve harvest with our accomplishments and the impact we have made.
The Center for Successful Aging helps seniors in our community age with dignity and care. The following are some of their programs:
- Hot meal delivery
- Support group sessions
- Peer group sessions
- Daily check-in calls
With a compassionate ear and a helpful hand, our senior peer counseling and support programs help seniors who are feeling lonely or isolated, who need support in handling loss or challenging situations, and who are looking for guidance in finding the right resources. President de Mangeon reminds us that our next meeting will be on February 16 via ZOOM. We won’t have an in-person meeting until Dr. Steve Young feels it is safe! A board of directors meeting is also scheduled for February 9th.
