Alison Bauerlein is the founder and CFO of Inogen. Inogen was started with the goal of improving the quality of life of oxygen users. Alison saw the need in 2001 with her grandmother who was put on Oxygen. Alison realized that if only tanks could be miniaturized, the level of mobility would lead to better health and less hospitalizations.
The new compact, lightweight and travel approved oxygen product is 2.8 lbs with a single rechargeable battery. The product creates freedom and independence.
Inogen now sales in 46 countries and continue to have worldwide demand. They have a focus in the United States and Europe but are starting to develop the groundwork to bring their product to Emerging Countries such as Brazil. Inogen has had continues growth and they have increased business to business sales. However, they are still only at 10% penetration in the POC business showing that there is still a lot of growth potential. Inogen has strong profits with a positive balance sheet at $144.2mm. They have no plans of acquiring new businesses in order to stay focused on the Oxygen business and continue to provide a high level of client experience. They did acquire a European distributor in order to increase business in Europe. They also have a new facility in Cleveland. Alison is confident that they have multiple avenues to drive future growth and continue to work on consumer awareness of their product now adding sales directly through Physicians as well. Alison presented overall that Inogen’s sales projections for 2017 show growth with growth potential for the next ten years.
