Future Rotaract Visitors: Diana Monge and Jose Gonzalez-Perez are both 5th year students from the University of California Santa Barbara who are in process of establishing a Rotaract club on UCSB’s campus.
Visiting Rotarian(s): Tina Ballue.Ballue is from the Santa Barbara Sunrise District. She was our guest speaker and presented on the services, opportunities, and resources that Domestic Violence Solutions offer.
Introduction of Visiting Guest: Jessica Sullivan prospective member and guest of Jim Lisi. Jessica is involved in commercial banking.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Lisa Gosdschan shared a message of appreciation to all the Rotarians given their support and contributions to her organization CADA that donates thanksgiving dinners to families in need. All Rotarians that won The Berryman Inc. gift card in a raffle donated their raffle to Lisa’s organization allowing for CADA to not only provide over 20 families with a thanksgiving dinner, but also a fresh box of fruits and vegetables.
Cathy Calabro confirmed the time and location of the holiday party which will be at the University Club at 5:30 PM. There will be an open bar, and each person is responsible for contributing $70 for the dinner. Additionally, individuals must also bring an item that has a value of $50.00 for the silent auction. Joe Dobbs oversaw the coordination of the Christmas party’s location; Cathy showed her appreciation to Dobbs by thanking him for his efforts.
MEGA BUCKS
Lisa Gosdschan pledged a Megabuck to spread awareness about a collaboration that CADA has with DECKERS where they will receive 40% of the net-profits on all purchases made from the corporate DECKERS store in Goleta on 12/16/2024.
Mike Bergquist pledged a Megabucks to share that his youngest son who lives in Paris married last week and will celebrate the union with a wedding in Georgia next May of 2025.
Jacqueline Duran, who works in finance pledged a Megabuck to share that her son, Bradley, was one of the singer finalists on teen star and will be needing supporters 02/02/2025 at Marjorie Luke Theater.
OPPORTUNITY DRAWING
Maria Garcia won The Berryman Inc. vegetable/fruit Basket. Lisa Gosdschan won the opportunity to win the “pot of money” by choosing red marble from a blind bag and failed. Lisa selected a white marble from the blind bag.
GUEST SPEAKER – Tina Ballue
Tina Balue is the Director of development of Domestic Violence Solutions which is an organization that helps indiviudals and families affected by domestic violence with safety, shelter, and support. DVS collaborates with a variety of community partners to raise awareness regarding domestic violence in relation to cause, prevalence, and impact. This organization serves everyone regardless of race, gender identity, religion, citizenship status, or sexual orientation. DVS has a 24 hour crisis and information line staffed with trained professionals answering live calls. Connection with DVS can prompy for housing assistance, job and life skills training, therapy, counseling, community outreach opportunties, and education-based activies.
