Cynthia Waring from Bodies Unbound discusses Writing your Memoir

Born in Modesto, Cynthia is a Poets, Essayest and Masseuse.  Cynthia also chronicles patients and created a one-woman show named Bodies Unbound that played in Boulder Colorado.

Cynthia says writing is learning about the Human Dilemma.  Families these days move around a lot and it is very important to tell the stories of our lives.  As we get older, it is important to chronicle our lives and tell the stories that make use who we are and to leave those stories for our grandchildren.

What are the Stories?
What are the Struggles?
What are the Triumphs?

The first lesson she gives her writing class is to start writing about the house you grew up in.  What was it like?  Walk inside...what does it feel like?  Memories will come flooding back.  What was it like with your Mother, your Father?  Your siblings? Write it down for the future generations.

Then, interview someone else and write about them.  Everyone wants to be known.

Cynthia teaches classes 3-5 on Wednesdays at the Family Therapy Institute.
