President Guy de Mangeon called the meeting to order and welcomed all visitors and Rotarians.

 

Anna Maria Estes Cathy Calabro invited a retired teacher.

 

Kyle Mayl was also a guest of Cathy Calabro. Kyle recently took a position with SEE International, moving from Aurora, Colorado. A young man who never thought about joining Rotary but enjoyed the comradeship of our club and our programs, might consider joining.

 

Greg Harris was invited by Guy de Mangeon. This is his third visit to our club!

 

Bowen Amos, Culinary Manager of the HONOR BAR in Montecito was a guest of Anthony Clark.

PAUL HARRIS FELLOW – Jim Lisi, Chair of the Rotary International Foundation explained what Paul Harris Fellow was:  “Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation”.

 

President Guy de Mangeon called up Kim Bish, presenting him with his Paul Harris certificate. This is the third time Kim has received this award. Cathy Calabro was also honored by the Club with her first Paul Harris.

Congratulations to the following winners of the 4-WAY TEST ESSAY CONTEST 6-graders from Adams School.

First Place winner Gianna Cardi’s essay has been sent to District 5240 to participate in the District essay contest. We have invited Adams School Principal Kelly Fresch to bring the three winners to an in-person meeting in the near future.

 

 

Joe Lanza gave a brief report on drilling of water wells in Kenya, saying the “train is moving slowly.”  He is in communication with a Kenya Rotary Club and is working with a Rotarian (Marlon Odhiambo) who owns a water well drilling company. He is also working with the local Santa Barbara Greek church for funding.

 

Tom Jacobs appreciates the guest speakers Cathy Calabro has arranged but he is asking all members to pitch in and contact him with other speakers.

 

Our in-person meetings will be held on the 1^st and 3^rd Wednesday of the month.

In closing Gil reminded club members of the 50^th Sister Cities of friendship between Santa Barbara & Puerto Vallarta. The Santa Barbara/Puerto Vallarta Sister City is working on a special trip to take place from November 29 to December 08, 2022.  We will also be interacting with our sister Rotary Club of Puerto Vallarta Sur. Unpack your bikinis to get ready for this trip. More information will be published as soon as group airfare is confirmed. For people who do not want to go the 10 days, arrangements can be made for less days.
