NOTES FROM APRIL 5, 2023, MEETING AT
ADAMS SCHOOL – “GO TIGERS”
Meeting called to order by President Marti Correa de Garcia at the Adams School Auditorium. Principal Kelly Fresch was introduced and welcomed the Rotarians.
An Adams School student led flag Salute.
The Rotary song was led by Blas Garza, “OH ROTARY, OH ROTARY”. Rotarians, Adams School students, staff and teachers sang along.
A tribute to Stanley Weinstein with a plaque to be placed at the Adams School Library was presented to the school. Tom Jacobs and Dennis Waid said kind words about Stanley’s tireless work at the school. Stanley’s wife, Elizabeth Weinstein said a few words, saying how much Stanley treasured going to Adams School almost every day, helping out at the Library and various classrooms. The students would call him Mr. Stanley.
A vocational certificate was presented to Liz Cervantes Librarian for her dedicated work at the Adams School Library.
A volunteer certificate was given to the President of the Adams School PTA, Jennifer Hinrichs. Jennifer was PTA President during Covid.
Principal Kelly Fresch gave the Rotary members a brief up-date on the school. She mentioned that on April 28th our Rotary Club would participate at the 1st Annual Adams School Jog-a-Thon celebrating District 5240 “Week of Service”. A sign-up sheet will be distributed at our next Rotary Club luncheon on April 19th.
At the end of the meeting a tour of Adams School campus was offered. One of the highlights was visiting the Design Center and talking to Sean Federbush, teacher of the Center. Our Rotary Club has donated many items to the Design Center.
