Ana provided a presentation on current fraud schemes targeting individuals and businesses. It covered prevalent scams including investment and cryptocurrency fraud, romance scams, impersonation tactics (such as those involving government officials, software companies, and bank personnel), business email compromise, tech support scams, and others. Special attention was given to the increased use of social engineering tactics that exploit employees and businesses to gain unauthorized access and/or process fraudulent payments. Attendees learned about common red flags.

 

The presentation emphasized the importance of staying vigilant, verifying requests before taking action, continued education on current and emerging fraud trends, and sharing information with the community.

 

The session concluded with a reminder about the importance of reporting all fraud incidents, regardless of size, to increase recovery chances, prevent further victimization, support efforts in fraud prevention, and provide information that may aid in law enforcement investigations.
