ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ROTARY CLUB of SANTA BARBARA NORTH CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
Mike Bergquist, President called the annual foundation meeting to order, giving members a brief history of the Foundation. It was founded in 1982 as a Public Benefit Corp. Bylaws state that the Foundation is comprised of members, with an annual membership fee of $10. The following nominees for the Board of Directors for the period July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2026, are:

Vote for no more than four (4). Ballots were handed out at the meeting. Foundation Board members will be announced at the next luncheon meeting.

President Cathy Calabro reminded us about the Rotary Club Blood Drive Day with Vitalant Mobile Blood Bank, scheduled for Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 11-12 PM at La Cumbre Macy’s lower parking lot. Please mark your calendars and tell friends and relatives.
President Cathy Calabro announced a Rotary Club SBN social coming up on Wednesday, September 4th at 5:30 PM at the home of Gil & Marti Garcia, 2215 Santa Barbara St. A sign-up sheet was circulated and many club members signed up.
Joe Lanza gave a brief report on the Zoom meeting held for the water well in Salama, Kenya, Africia. Our club and the Friends of Woni Kenya (FOW) are partnering to fund and develop a well site in Salama, Kenya. Competitive bids were obtained. A contract was accepted from Almak for $38,899 to drill up to 300 meters and pump the water using solar power to a tank atop a 6 meter tower near the church that is 400 meters uphill from the borehole. $12,4654 will come from our club with the balance coming from FOW.
President Cathy Calabro announced that she was a Team Captain for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s scheduled for November 16, 2024, starting at Chase Palm Park Field & Beach at 10:15 am.
Lisa Gosdschan announced the fusion academy S.E.A. of Success seminar series on Friday, Septermber 6, 2024 from 9:30-11:30 am. Look who the guest speaker is!

Lisa Gosdschan pledged a Mega Buck in honor of her mother’s birthday party at Jill’s Place. People had so much fun, Vana White from “Jeopardy” who was with another party joined them.

GUEST SPEAKER: STEPHEN VAMPOLA, MD MS
Dr. Stephen Vampola is a cardiologist who practices in the Santa Barbara/Montecito area. He is a product of the Santa Barbara School District. As a cardiologist, he sees the breadth of diseases affecting the heart including coronary disease, heart failure, valve disease, lipid disorders and rhythm disorders. Dr. Vampola has specialized training in interventional cardiology, allowing him to perform advanced cardiac procedures. He provides cardiac procedures and inpatient care at Cottage Hospital as well as at the UCLA hospitals.
Number three causes of death are: heart disease, cancer, and strokes. Dr. Vampola encourages people to keep active and include exercise in your weekly routine. Manage your blood sugar, diabetics is dangerous for your heart, weight management and healthy sleep is important. The hardest health problem to control is stress.
