The Rotary Club of Ojai West awarded senior Jem Ruff Student of the Month at their Tuesday morning meeting. Jem was nominated by Nordhoff Music Director Bill Wagner for his exceptional work in the Nordhoff Jazz Band, Choral Group and for playing the lead in two Nordhoff musicals. Mr. Wagner noted that Jem started out playing the tenor sax and now plays solo pieces on the oboe for the Nordhoff flute, oboe and clarinet ensemble. Rotarian Dr. Jim Halverson also noted that Jem was the captain of the Nordhoff water polo team, participated in mock trials and is the 2018-19 Valedictorian. Jem will attend Cal Berkeley next and is interested in becoming an attorney.
