Lizzeth Gomez, a senior at Nordhoff High School was nominated by Gray Duncan Nordhoff’s Fine Arts Director as Student of the Month. Mr. Duncan told the Tuesday morning Rotarians that Lizzeth is a natural born teacher in his ceramics class at Nordhoff and he hired her as his Teaching Assistant in the Ojai Recreation Center art classes he teaches throughout the year where she gets ‘amazing results’ working with the children every Monday. Lizzeth is involved in soccer, volleyball and the Health Sciences Academy at Nordhoff, serves at St. Thomas Aquinas church and teaches confirmation classes and has shown her ceramics art at three Art in the Park Memorial weekend celebrations. The $250 award from the Rotary Club of Ojai West will go towards her college education where she intends to attain a teaching degree and come back to Ojai to “…take Mr. Duncan’s job when he retires.”
