Community Service is one of the Four Avenues of Service. Our Rotary club assumes responsibility to find ways to improve the quality of life for those in our communities and to serve the public interest. These efforts in our communities contribute to the greater good and the well-being.

The following projects are on-going in our community:

Shelter dinners - Once every two months members arrange to have a full meal cooked and served to homeless and disadvantaged persons in the Conejo Valley. Year round program and has been ongoing for many years.  Interactors also help out with serving.

Meals on Wheels: deliver food to the senior citizens.

Every two weeks, all year long, NBPK Rotary club members deliver meals to senior that are shut in or unable to cook for themselves. This is a program that has been going on for a number of years.

Road 2 Recovery - A program brought to us by a Rotarian member.  They help veterans get money for their Prosthesis's by riding to raise money.  One of our members participated in the ride and is now on his own road to recovery after a bad accident.

Westminster Free Clinic - http://www.wfc-online.org founded in 1994 is a volunteer healthcare provider for those without healthcare. The clinic addresses a broad spectrum of public health and health care issues. This program includes free patient care, prescriptions, resource and referral, advocacy, free legal services, bilingual counseling and dental screening services as well as training opportunities for teens and college students. We donate money and one of our Rotarians donates his time.

Dictionary Project - Completed - Joe Joyce captain

Delivery of dictionaries to all Gr 3 students in all 6 elementary schools in NBPK. All dictionaries have the Rotarian seal. Rotarians and this year Interactors went to schools and instructed kids how to use them and talked about Rotary. This is 4th or 5th yr for this program. Feedback from school principals is very enthusiastic

Conejo Valley Teen Center - Supported their New Years Eve party for kids aged 12-14. Teen Center offers sports, dances, and recreation to keep teens off the street in a safe environment.

Turkeys for the Troops - Our club collected about 15 turkeys and gave them to Miss Tilley who makes sure all the military families at Port Hueneme have a turkey and fixins for Thanksgiving dinner.

Food for the troops - Collected food for the troops at Oktoberfest - We invited Mrs. Tilley and members of the Military to come to Oktoberfest too.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters - members donated clothing and toys to anonymously make the Christmas wishes come true for five children in the NBPK area.

Many Mansions Christmas Party - Members donated toys for underprivileged kids and joined with them to sing carols and watch Santa give out toys

YMCA -  Youth in government. Supported Local NBPK youths in raising funds to go to Sacremento and participate in mock government. They introduced bills and debated pertinent issues.

Senior Congress: Support education of Seniors about issues that affect them as they age. One day seminar and this year was about making memories

Every 15 mins program - NBPH HS - Mar 19th  and 20th .

This program is to help out teens from drinking and driving. They stage a mock car crash utilizing all avenues of county services from the police to the hospital to the morgue to "drive" home the message that drinking and driving kills. Very moving project. Received $1000. DSG for this one.
