Local Projects

Montecito Beautification Day
Rotarians and our neighbors work together to clean up our community.  Once the work is done, participants enjoy refreshments and music in Montecito's Upper Village.

Zone 25/26 Rotarians at Work Day
Rotarians from five western states joined forces in Santa Barbara to provide a variety of services for the United Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara County.  Activities included painting the gymnasium, building bookcases and sorting books.

Volunteering for the Visit of the San Salvador
The San Salvador, a replica of ship Juan Cabrillo sailed when exploring the California Coast, visited Santa Barbara as part of the Pacific Heritage Tour.  Rotarians and other Maritime Museum volunteers assisted guests on and off the ship and provided information about the ship and Cabrillo's voyages.

Global Projects

Mumosho Water Project
The Mumosho Water Project included the construction of new spigots, the repair of broken spigots, and the addition of two reservoirs and a water tank at the Mumosho Health Clinic. The project created direct access to clean water for about 18,000 people but indirectly affects over 50,000 residents. Our club partnered with the clinic to train health care workers and community mobilizers to educate the villagers on clean water practices. The project has reduced waterborne diseases. Because people no longer have to travel long distances to access water, village women have more time to sell craft items in the market, pregnant women can access water at the health clinic, and children can go to school.
