Socially Distanced Service

Due to the pandemic, the demand for C.A.R.E.4 PAWS' help is greater than ever. To prevent suffering and ensure pets can stay with their families, they are distributing four tons of pet food weekly!  Our Club will assist in this effort by dedicating our February service hours to packaging pet food.

With the current Covid cases still on the high side, Anita & Jason collected food & supplies and  will be packing from home.  If you are interested in lending a hand, they are happy to deliver food to your house and pick up after you are done packing.

If you'd prefer to pick up supplies yourself, please contact Anita at 805-886-5695, and she can arrange a time for you to pick up from her house.

And if you'd prefer to make a monetary donation, you can  click here to access the C.A.R.E.4 PAWS website.

President's Message
Dear friends,

I was surprised to learn that Washington’s birthday, a federal holiday—and, in most states, a state holiday—has fourteen different names: Washington’s Birthday, President’s Birthday, Washington’s and Lincoln’s Birthday, and Presidents Day (with no apostrophe), among others. To complicate matters, not every
state observes it on the same day. (By the way, Monday is President’s Day in California—with
an ‘s!)

When it comes to Rotary presidents, I’m glad we keep it simple. The clear and uniform guidance for the annual transfer of leadership is followed by the more than 35,000 clubs worldwide. And it helps! Our club is strong because we plan ahead for transitions. We make sure to allow time for the excellent leadership training the District offers. Presidents-elect also get involved with club boards and committees; this way they can be familiar and at ease with how things work.

I’m so pleased that our Club has President-Elect Tom Fisher who will begin his year on July 1st. And after his successful year, Tom will be followed by President-Elect Nominee Tony Morris on July 1, 2022. Here’s to a bright future for the Rotary Club of Montecito!

See you Tuesday,

Supplies Donated to DVS

Our January service project was a huge success!  Thanks to all who contributed in support of Domestic Violence Solutions, a local non-profit that offers shelter and support for individuals and families affected by domestic violence.

Together we provided school supplies, cookware, utensils, dishes, diapers, and cleaning supplies. Anita and Jason made the delivery last week and report that DVS staff were thrilled to receive so much. Thanks to everyone for your generousity!

Four-Way Test Essay Contest

The Montecito Rotary Club is participating in District 5240's 4-Way Test Essay Contest for students. If you have a child (or grandchild) in elementary, junior high or high school who would like to enter, please contact Vocational Chair Tony Morris (tony@tony-morris.com) and he can share the details.

Entries will be accepted for local competition beginning on February 1 and then local winners will advance to District competition on March 1.

Information has also been shared with Montecito/Summerland-area schools.
