 Montecito Rotary
President's  Message
Dear Rotarians,

As fires continue to devastate communities to our south, including Pacific Palisades where all Rotarians have tragically lost their homes and meeting place, our thoughts are with those affected. I have been in contact with District 5280's Governor, Albert Hernandez, and Assistant Governor, Shirin Mosavi-Nejad, who are leading remarkable relief efforts in these areas. Thank you to everyone who has supported them this far.

Our collection event to support the fire victims
is ongoing, with the deadline for drop-offs extended to Monday. Personal-care items, non-perishable food and bottled water are most helpful right now. We have plenty of clothing. Donations can be made throughout the weekend (at 920 De La Vina St,) and will directly aid those in need.

Additionally, I encourage you to attend the District 5240 Foundation Gala on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Vespara Resort in Pismo Beach. This event will feature keynote speaker Past RI President Barry Rassin and will be an opportunity to come together in support of our broader Rotary community.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity during this challenging time.

Yours in service,

Kim

Rotary District 5280 encompasses all areas impacted by the recent wildfires and is taking the lead in coordinating Rotary relief efforts.

Our Club Board met earlier in the week and agreed that all financial contributions from our Club should be made through the District 5280 Charitable Foundation.

The website referenced above includes instructions for making direct donations, including a link for contributions by credit card.  In addition, it provides access to a directory of resources for Rotarians to personally list any resources they can provide to those displaced by the fires.

Thanks to all who contribute in this time of great need.
