President's Message
Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Great news: we're only in the first month of the '22-'23 Rotary year and our club already has our first new member! Welcome Taro Usami, who has transferred his membership from his former club in Japan.

Most of our members have met Taro (and his wife Zelda and son Justin, the filmmaker), who attended several of our meetings last year and even participated in a service project. He plans to move from Japan and join his family in the States later this Fall. We look forward to seeing him at our meetings.

And, I want to give a big SHOUT OUT to the Rotary Club of Montecito Foundation Board. Last year's Foundation President Kati Buehler and fellow board members did an outstanding job of updating all of the organization's documents.

Moving forward, I know that the Foundation's new President Bruce McRoy and other board members will continue the good work.

Yours in Service,
Tony

This year's District 5240 Conference will be live and in person.  Join Rotarians from across the district for fun and fellowship.

We'll be gathering November 18-20 at the Santa Barbara Hilton Beach Resort.

The conference will feature inspiring speakers and a joint community service project, in addition to a rooftop party Friday night (with silent auction benefiting Polio Plus) and a
Saturday night dinner with an 80s After Party.

President Tony Morris gathered his board at a breakfast meeting hosted by Cathy Cash and Bruce McRoy. Together the team reviewed goals and plans for Rotary Year 2022-23.  The following week Tony kicked off the new year with a General Assembly on July 19th at the Music Academy.

Next time you see Tony be sure to congratulate him, and thank him for his service as Club President.
Get Ready for an Adventure

Our second meeting of August will be special for several reasons:
  1. We'll be meeting on WEDNESDAY, August 17th (instead of the usual Tuesday)

  2. We'll be gathering at a NEW LOCATION in the Funk Zone for an onsite viewing of the Living Vehicle luxury travel trailers
We'll enjoy a catered lunch and a presentation by Living Vehicle Co-founder & Chief Service Officer, Walter Hofmann. After the presentation you're invited to explore the Living Vehicles in their warehouse.

This should be a great event and the perfect opportunity to invite a friend to experience Rotary.
Rotary International

Rotary's global network has sent millions of dollars' worth of relief to help the people of Ukraine. Rotary Fellowships have amplified the impact of these efforts.

The Rotary Foundation and Rotary clubs around the world have hurried to provide funds, supplies, and services to Ukrainians displaced by the war.
