When you think of all the things that could have derailed our virtual Back2School fundraiser, it’s amazing it was so successful. So much had to happen behind the scenes: learning an online fundraising platform, producing and editing the program videos, renting a sound studio, finding a producer to stitch the final program together, and pulling off a flawless virtual auction. Yet it all worked so well. After expenses, we raised almost $15,000! I’m thrilled with the results ... and it all goes to support SBCC student scholarships.
The technology was critical, but the leadership of co-chairs Cathy Cash and Tony Morris, their wonderful committee, and team captains made the real difference. Thanks to all who participated by making outright donations, securing sponsors, donating in-kind items, raising a paddle and making a donation during the event, and bidding and purchasing the auction items.
As with the fundraiser, technology has been our friend this year. Since our first meeting on July 7, 2020, we’ve been able to meet twice a month, see one another’s faces, listen to great speakers, and stay connected, thanks to Zoom. But there’s no substitute for being together in person. How good it will be to celebrate our final club meeting of the 2020-21 year at Bernadette’s home on Tuesday, June 15th. We’ll celebrate this year’s accomplishments and enjoy one another’s company. And yes, lunch will be provided, so stay tuned for more details from Anita.
