and trends in the food service industry

The story of Jordano’s Foodservice began long ago and continues today due to an unwavering commitment to quality, customer service and serving the community.

At the current helm is Peter C. Jordano, son to one of the four founding Jordano brothers. People don’t call him Mr. Jordano . . . he’s Pete.

Pete’s no-nonsense approach to his name parallels his 56 years in business. To Pete, it’s a simple equation where people, plus a dedication to quality and customer service, equals success. Frankly, that mentality hasn’t changed since the early 1900s when his grandfather, James Jordano, paved the way for the Jordano family.

Volunteers Needed

Shelterbox is an official partner with Rotary International, and the organization's President is our own Kerri Murray.

Shelterbox is hosting their annual benefit on Thursday, September 5th at 5:30 PM. They need volunteers to assist with greeting and registering guests, pouring wine, and hosting tents.

This event will be held in the lobby and on the back patio of the former QAD campus atop Ortega Hill.  For those who haven't been there, it's truly one of the most beautiful views in town.  Being able to walk inside the actual Shelter Box tents, that will be set up outside, is an unforgettable experience.

Volunteers are needed from 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Ideally, we would like to find 20 members who are willing to help out for two hours each. With enough help, we can split each position into two shifts, so everyone has a chance to enjoy the event and socialize as well.

President's Message
Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Our next meeting on Tuesday, August 22nd at noon at the Music Academy promises to be a memorable one. First, our guest speaker will be Peter Jordano, the leader of the Santa Barbara success story, Jordano's. In addition, we will conduct our latest inductee ceremony when we officially welcome Marcy Wimbish as a member.

Also, please remember to mark your calendars for several social and community service events. Social Director Cathy Cash has lined up a Happy Hour at the Finch & Fork in the Canary Hotel at 4 pm on Thursday, August 24th. The special is $1 raw oysters! Looking into September, hold Tuesday, Sept. 12 for a Hope Ranch Picnic.

Community Services Director Kim Stone has coordinated a service opportunity with ShelterBox. Volunteers are needed to help with the organization's Sept. 7th fundraiser.

All in all, our club is off to a great start for Rotary year 2023-24!

Yours in Service,
Tony
