Wealth and Estate Management

Tommy has extensive experience in a variety of wealth management positions. His working style begins with curiosity and is guided by his mantra "treat others the way you would want to be treated". Sounds very much like Rotary's "Service Above Self".

It's Back!

There is an effort underway to resurrect “Guess Who's Coming to Dinner”, a vastly entertaining event that our Club used to hold almost annually.

For those of you who may be new to the concept, it's simple:  some Club members host others at their home for dinner. The host decides what to offer and for how many. It can be pizza on the deck for four or a sit down multi course dinner for more. It’s whatever you want to provide. Most of us keep it simple.

The organizer (Lynda Nahra in this case) finds out who wants to participate as guests, then matches guests and their significant others with one of the hosts.  The “Guess" in all this is that the host does not know who is going to show up at their house. We also make an effort to keep host names secret, so the guests just get an address and the time to show up. It is a wonderful way to build relationships among our club members.

The date we decided on is April 23, 2027. Mark that in your calendar now.  This is an event you won't want to miss!

After the holidays Lynda will be contacting members to see who can host, because without hosts there will be no dinner. We already have two hosts who we are grateful for.

If anyone has questions feel free to contact Lynda directly at 805-216-1494 or at lynda@dorais.com

Dear Friends,

One of our primary goals this year is to have Rotary, both our local club and Rotary International, become better known. We are all aware that while our neighbors are well-informed people, up to date on most everything, few are well-acquainted with Rotary—what it stands for, what it accomplishes. We hear “Oh, my dad was a Rotarian,” or “Isn’t it just for men?” To update our community’s perception, our club board has taken some specific steps, beginning—no surprise--with our website.

So go ahead. Google “Rotary Club of Montecito” and see for yourself. Our home page, all humility aside, is wonderful. Thanks to a committee chaired by Roger Davis and assisted by Kim Stone, Bernadette Bagley, Tony Morris, and me—and a wonderful Rotarian from Ojai, Leah Hecker-- the renovated website is colorful, eye-catching, engaging, and informative. Bernadette gets 99% of the credit, as she, with her computer skills, made it happen. Personally, I’m in awe of what she’s done.

We’ll show it off on the Music Academy screen at our meeting on November 3.

Warm regards,

Peter

Visit by District Governor

District 5240 Governor Margarida Eidson

District 5240 Governor Margarida Eidson visited our Club on Tuesday, October 16th.  She began her Rotary journey as a member of the Rotary Club of Ventura East, and served in a variety of Club and District positions before assuming her current role as Governor of Rotary District 5240.

She emphasized the idea of Rotarians as People of Action and encouraged all of us to continue exploring the opportunities Rotary has to offer and leveraging our unique talents to serve our community.

The Nominating Committee for the Montecito Association Board of Directors has inquired if any members of the Rotary Club of Montecito are interested in being considered a candidate for election to the MA Board.  If any member of our club is interested in being considered, please contact MA directly at 805.969.2026 – after reading the following requirements to become a candidate.

Requirements to become a candidate for election to the Montecito Association Board of Directors.

  • Geographic Representation: Each board member must live in and represent one of the six designated districts within Montecito.

  • Membership and Eligibility: Candidates must meet the active membership and voting eligibility standards defined in the Montecito Association Bylaws (Article III and Article V), which cover individual or business membership criteria.

  • Board Structure: The 17-member board consists of volunteer community members who also serve on at least one association committee (such as the community committee).

It would be fantastic for our Club to have a seat on the Montecito Association Board; all eligible members are encouraged to apply.

Walk to End Alzheimer's

It's not too late to join!

Rotary International is a nationwide supporter of the Walk to End Alzheimer's events, and the Rotary Club of Montecito will have a team in this year's Santa Barbara event on Saturday, November 14, at 9 am.

While the actual “walk” is only a mile long, - along the beautiful ocean at Chase Palm Park - its impact will raise awareness and funds to help end the disease.
