The business climate of the Central Coast has changed dramatically over the past 17 years.
To learn more about those changes, as well as opportunities for growth and potential issues business, join us for a presentation by Henry Dubroff, Editor of the Pacific Business Times.
Before summer ends, let's get together to clean up our beaches while enjoying one another's company!
We will be meeting at the Shoreline Beach Cafe Parking lotlocated at 801 Shoreline Dr. at 5:00 PM on Thursday, August 12th.
Please come by as your timing allows. We will be picking up trash until around 6:00 PM when we will then relax and enjoy catching up in person.
Please bring a chair or blanket and any beverages or snacks you may like. We will be spacing our chairs apart by at least 6 feet to maintain a safe distance.
Hope to see you there!
Note: We will provide gloves, hand sanitizer and trash buckets if needed. We will reschedule if weather does not cooperate.
Our Club Assembly on July 20th was a success with about one-half the Club attending.
Consensus was reached on the following important items:
Members want to continue to meet twice a month (first and third Tuesdays) during lunch (Noon to 1 or 1:30) with at least one of these meetings being in person with lunch served (see below) and the other either with lunch or over Zoom.
Members like the idea of separate social events from time to time—they want to stay with our current structure of two lunchtime meetings per month.
We are planning on meeting at the Music Academy of the West in Montecito when they reopen this fall-we will have to monitor health conditions and follow all CDC, OSHA and County guidelines.
We would rotate among local restaurants and delicatessens to have our lunches catered and delivered.
We will continue to have multiple
“hands on” service projects throughout the year—last week we had about eight Club Members (thank you all!) to help package dog and cat food for a local
non-profit—CARE4Paws. They were very appreciative of our help and call our Rotary Club their “A Team” of volunteers.
Kati mentioned the opportunity to volunteer with the Lion’s Club on September 14th for the recall election—we still need volunteers to fill out the various shifts during the day—the Club will earn $600 for the event.
We are going to plan a Spring (hopefully in person and very fun) Fundraiser—We are looking for committee members to help—so far we have Tom, Eryn, Kim and Tony—We can use several more volunteers so please e-mail Tom at tfisher@montecito.bank if interested.
Members at the Assembly were asked what was working well in the Club—the answers were adoptability, service projects, good speakers, lots of great service projects, well run events like the recent Step-Down dinner. Areas for improvement; get off Zoom as soon as possible as Zoom fatigue is real.
And finally, we raised $105 in“Happy Bucks” with donations from Larry, Bernadette, Kim, Harlan, Eryn and Tom.
