Join us to share your ideas for maintaining and strengthening our presence in the community.
We meet the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 12:00 PM.
Zoom meetings open at 11:45 for those who'd like to socialize before the program begins.
Help Package Pet Food at Care4Paws
For our July Service project we'll be volunteering at Care4Paws once again, bagging up dog/cat food from 3:30-4:30 pm on Thursday, July 22nd.
Come for part or all of the one hour window. We will have plenty of shaded, outdoor areas to work, with adequate spacing between each person.
Bring friends/family if you can! But please sign up here so we'll have enough bagging stations ready for all.
If you'd like to bring an item to donate in addition to or in lieu of volunteering your time, please click here to see their Amazon wishlist. Specifically, they are in need of gallon sized freezer Ziploc bags w/ the sliders and of course dog and cat food!
To learn more about all the incredible services they provide for our furry friends, please visit the Care4Paws website.
Note: Care4Paws is located at 815 E Mason St. in Santa Barbara (the sign says "815 A").
Please park on the street, then walk down the alley next to the warehouse. Or just follow the noise to find your fellow Rotarians out back.
I am honored to be your President as we start a new Rotary year together. Please bring your questions for the Club Assembly on Tuesday, and we will discuss your ideas and my thoughts on how we can continue to grow our Club and make it fun and impactful for members. Here are some of my thoughts:
Consider the Music Academy of the West for live meetings in September, or when they are available
Use different local restaurants to cater and deliver the lunch
Consider the second meet of the month a social or “happy hour” meeting that starts at 5 pm and rotates venues throughout Santa Barbara—perhaps Thursday nights?
Continue to have at least 10-12 “hands on” service projects per year—these are great for recruitment and getting to know members. Service to the community is a primary reason many join Rotary
Do our best to keep the cost of our lunches and formal meals down to retain members and attract new members
Consider having an evening dinner meal/speaker meeting at SBCC when their dining room is completed in early 2022. Our meal would be served by students in the school of culinary arts
Have a formal budget for our community service and international service projects (partially funded by our members auctioning items from their recent travels)
I look forward to working with each of you this year to make our Rotary experience fun and rewarding.
Tom
Introducing Dana Moldovan
District Governor 2021-22
It is truly an honor to serve as your District Governor for this new Rotary year. I joined Rotary almost 20 years ago. While I am now retired, I enjoyed a successful career as a Software Engineer. I am now a professional volunteer!
Rotary is my life. I’m involved in multiple projects locally and internationally, and also in different Rotary programs. My travels for Rotary Projects took me to many places from Nigeria
to India for Polio, then Mexico, Honduras,
El Salvador, Israel and Romania. I have also been fortunate to have attended 15 Rotary International Conventions.
I am also involved with Rotary Partner Mediators Beyond Borders International, whose purpose is to help build a more peaceful world. We have peace projects all over the World, as there is so much need. One particular project is very close to my heart – training women in peacebuilding and leadership in order to create a worldwide network of women peacebuilders.
This year's District 5240 Conference is happening live and in person October 8th-12th at the Ventura Beach Marriott Hotel.
Join Rotaractors and Rotarians from across the district for education, inspiration, fun, and fellowship. Registration opens July 15, 2021.
