 Montecito Rotary
President's  Message
Dear Rotarians,

I’m excited for our upcoming Community Grants celebration on Tuesday at The Red Piano, where we’ll recognize 12 exceptional nonprofits making a difference in Santa Barbara. This event is a wonderful reminder of our club’s dedication to uplifting our community.

Thank you to those who joined the ShelterBox event earlier this week. Your support extends our reach globally, providing aid to those affected by disaster when they need it most.

As the holidays approach, I look forward to gathering with each of you on December 3rd. That day, we will enjoy a performance by the Montecito Elementary School at our regular meeting, and then our holiday party at the Kerns’ home. Let’s make it a season to celebrate our friendships and our shared commitment to service.

Yours in Service - Kim
Club News
Montecito Beautification Day
Rotarians Tony Morris (front), Samantha Lloyd-Knauf, Roger Davis, and Cathy Cash work together to remove trash from the Montecito landscape

Many thanks to our dedicated Club members who participated in the 2024 Montecito Beautification Day. This event is an annual celebration of community togetherness, and provides a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the value of Rotary service in our community.

The day began with coffee and a delicious breakfast from the Rosewood Miramar.  Participants formed teams to clean and beautify designated neighborhoods, beaches and trails; and afterward enjoyed a hot dog and chili lunch from Montecito Village Grocery, San Ysidro Ranch, and our Montecito Firefighters.
October Rotarian of the Month
President Kim Stone recognizes Kurt Koenig as October's Rotarian of the Month

Congratulations to Kurt for being honored as our most recent Rotarian of the Month.  Kurt's role as Treasurer (for almost a decade!) is largely behind the scenes, but his work keeps our Club on a sound financial footing and is greatly appreciated.

President Kim instituted Rotarian of the Month as a new initiative for her 2024-25 term.  Past recipients (for July, August, and September) include Roger Davis, Tony Morris, and Bernadette Bagley.
Shelterbox Benefit
Past District 5240 Governor Wade Nomura, Club Member and Shelterbox USA President Kerri Murray, and Club Member and Shelterbox Board Member Murray Ray

Shelterbox welcomed local Rotarians to their Montecito headquarters to view shelter options and learn more about the organization's international efforts.
Attendees enjoyed fine wine and fellowship, and heard inspiring stories from both shelter recipients and response team members.
