I hope everyone has a wonderful and restful Labor Day Weekend! Special thanks to Bruce and Cathy for hosting a Labor Day celebration at their beautiful home over the weekend!
Thanks also to Annette, Jason, Liz, Kati, Peter and everyone who helped bag food for the Salvation Army last Friday afternoon. Another great “hands on” project brought to you by our excellent Community Service Director, Anita!
Our District has decided to postpone the District Conference in Mid-October in Ventura. This decision was a difficult one but they made the decision based on increasing COVID infections throughout our area, California and the entire Country.
The conference will be moved to late January 2022 and will be held somewhere in the Santa Barbara area. The event will include a District Foundation Gala Event and possibly a District “hands on” fundraising event like the Rise Against Hunger we have participated in over the past few years.
We are excited to begin meeting at the Music Academy of the West starting with our meeting on October 5th. We hope the health situation has improved by then but we will follow all the CDC, County Health and Rotary guidelines on meeting in person. Our plan is to use various Montecito and Santa Barbara restaurants to prepare 3-4 lunch choices for each meeting. We have some very good speakers lined up over the next several weeks and I would like to thank Kati, Kerri and Lora for doing a great job providing interesting speakers for our Club.
Lora and I will plan to Zoom in (from vacation) to the September 7th meeting to hear an update from Geoff Green, President of the Santa Barbara City College Foundation. I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
Tom
