President's Message
Fellow Rotarians,

District Governor, Dana Moldovan, will be visiting our Club on Tuesday, April 5th. She'll
give us an update on all the wonderful things that Rotary is accomplishing in District 5240 as well as globally.  In turn, we will update Dana on our club activities including the upcoming SBCC Scholarship Lunch and our current Club Foundation matching challenge for Ukraine Humanitarian Relief.

A special thanks to all members who have given generously to our Ukraine Relief effort.  As a reminder, we are accepting donations (checks made payable to the Rotary Club of Montecito Foundation) until May 1st, and our Club Foundation will match the first $10,000 of member donations.  To date, we have had 11 members participate and have raised $7,350.  Let’s finish the challenge strong and beat our goal of $10,000.  All donations will be split evenly between Shelter Box and Direct Relief International and will be designated for Ukraine Humanitarian Relief.

I also wanted to remind you of our SBCC Scholarship Luncheon on Tuesday, April 19th.  We'll be meeting on the SBCC campus and need a final count for catering. Due to SBCC COVID protocols we are limited to 25 Rotarians, so please RSVP to Bernadette as soon as possible.  A special thank you to our own Eryn Shugart for organizing this great event.

Finally, on Tuesday, May 3rd we plan on having Kerri Murray speak about her experience with Shelter Box on the ground in Poland. Dean Axelrod from Direct Relief International will give us an update on their efforts on behalf of the people of Ukraine.

We have some great meetings and events coming up—I hope to see everyone on Tuesday for Dana Moldovan’s visit.

Montecito Rotarians Partner with Local Lions Club

There's an urgent need for volunteers to administer hearing and vision tests for students in the Santa Barbara Unified School District. The Santa Barbara Lions Club is inviting members of the Rotary Club of Montecito to join forces to address this need.

Are you willing to help? If so, please arrive 30 minutes before our meeting this Tuesday for a brief training session. You'll be taught how to screen elementary students for vision and hearing.

This is a fantastic opportunity to partner with like-minded individuals and provide a much needed service to our community.

Please join me this Tuesday at 11:30 AM for the training.
