Moment of Truth: Sorting Fact From Fiction in the Misinformation Age
Moment of Truth: Sorting Fact From Fiction in the Misinformation Age

Moment of Truth will empower curious citizens of all ages to use critical thinking and journalistic fact-checking tools at a time when elections, AI and social media make it especially tricky to know what’s real.

Learn how to spot doctored images, check sources, resist falling for “ragebait” — and avoid being called out by your friends online for posting fake news.

President's  Message
Dear Rotary Family,

As we witness the severe storms affecting the East Coast, I want to take a moment to extend my thoughts and well wishes to everyone who may have loved ones in those areas. I sincerely hope that they remain safe and protected during this challenging time.

On a brighter note, we have several upcoming events that I’m excited to share. First, mark your calendars for our Halloween party on Saturday, October 25, from 6-9 PM at my home. We’ll have a social from 6-8 PM, followed by a fun Bunco game from 8-9 PM. Don’t forget to dress up!

Additionally, on October 26, we’re hosting a fundraiser at J.McLaughlin, located at 1253 Coast Village Rd, Suite 202. Ladies, when you shop that day, 10% of proceeds will go directly to our Rotary Club of Montecito—a great way to support the club while enjoying some retail therapy!

And as a reminder, our community grants applications are due by October 14. If you are involved with a local organization and project that would benefit, please submit an application on their behalf.

Also, don’t forget the Shelter Box happy hour on Tuesday, November 12th. - another fantastic opportunity for fellowship and support of a meaningful cause.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Yours in Service - Kim

Paul Jaconette
Paul Jaconette on podium at our Oct. 1st meeting

Many thanks to Paul Jaconette for enlightening our club on the current state of healthcare. He provided a very comprehensive overview in easy-to-understand terms, and provided insight into recent and upcoming changes to healthcare service in Santa Barbara.

And kudos to our speakers committee (Peter Buehler, Jennifer Goddard, Lora Fisher, and Tony Morris) for providing such interesting topics and presentors.
Roger Davis Recognized
President Kim Stone awards Roger Davis a Paul Harris Fellow certificate and pin.

Roger Davis received well-deserved recognition for his contributions to Rotary International.

He spoke of being inspired to give in part because of the generousity of other Club Members.  It's encouraging to reflect on how one good deed can be the seed for so many good things to follow.
