Owner, Casa Hernandez Salsa
Owner, Casa Hernandez Salsa

15 years ago, David Hernandez launched Casa Hernandez Salsa, selling locally-made salsa based on his mother's homemade recipe.

Today jars of Casa Hernandez are sold in groceries and stores from Santa Maria to Simi Valley, and the image on the label honors the memory of Hernandez’ mother Lupe.  In addition, Hernandez produces a private label of Trader Joe’s Fresh Salsa sold nationwide.

Join us on Tuesday, May 6th, as David shares insights and anecdotes about running a family business.  Plus, we'll enjoy samples of his family's salsa at lunch!

Our SBCC scholarship event was a beautiful celebration of student achievement. Thank you to all who attended, and a special thanks to those who provided direct scholarships.

If you’re looking for additional service opportunities, we have a number of organizations requesting our assistance.

First, we need drivers on Wednesday, May 1, from 8:00–10:30 AM to take RYLA students to camp in Ojai.  I drove several students last year and, surprisingly, had a very good time. In addition to getting to know the students better, it was a rare opportunity to see the special camp we’ve created for them.  It's beautiful.

If driving is not your passion, please consider signing up for our Earth Day ShelterBox booth this Saturday; the middle shift still needs help.

And finally, we’re looking for volunteers for the Senior Prom at the Friendship Center on Tuesday, April 30.

Please contact me if you can assist with any of these.

The Rotary Club of Montecito has been awarding career/technical scholarships to deserving SBCC students for more than 30 years.  Thanks to all our members and especially the individual scholarship sponsors for providing the funds necessary to continue this worthwhile service.
