Leslie McKinley of the United Way was our guest speaker on September 5th. United Way SLO is an independent orgainization. They focus on education, income and health. One program they have is Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. This is a 60 volume set of books, where each month a new book is mailed directly to a child's home to encourage reading. A few of the other programs they offer are Reading Plus, Youth Board, and moneytalks. They also contribute grants to other non-profits organizations in the county.
