Susan Needleman Brown visited the club on April 9th and shared the history of the introduction of women to Rotary.  As little as 26 years ago, women were not permitted to join Rotary Clubs.  Following legislation and a change in thinking, Women are now a vital part of Rotary, both locally and abroad.  Our own club has enjoyed the leadership of several female Presidents and dedicated female members.  Susan presented the club with great ideas for growing the membership and involving the community.

On November 13th, the board approved $500 to support a global grant written by the Rotary Club of Moorpark.  The club funds will be part of a large $140,000 Global Grant supported by the Rotary Foundation, several clubs in our District 5240, clubs in District 3291 (Calcutta, India), clubs in Singapore, and a club in the U.S. district 5330. 

The grant focuses on serving the needs of Polio Survivors in the Calcutta area.  While Polio is no longer an active threat in India, thanks to the work of Rotary and the World Health Organization, there are still hundreds of survivors in need of health care and other services.  This grant allocates funds for five areas of need:  1)  Surgeries for those whose ailments can be corrected beneficially through surgery.  2)  Provide braces/Calipers for those in need.  3)  Wheelchairs for those who are unable to walk.  4)  Vocational and Literacy training.  5)  Provide work placement and education so that survivors can sustain themselves.  The Rotary Club of Grover Beach-Five cities is proud to take part in this project that will greatly improve the quality of life for those we are able to help!

Jackie Garza with Transitions Mental Health spoke to the club on November 13th.  Transitions mental health is a non profit group dedicated to helping patients and families dealing with mental health issues.  The group was founded 30 years ago to provide a safe haven for those in need of services.  The group runs the SLO Hotline for those in crisis and provides case services throughout the County.  The goal is to provide immediate help for those in crisis and to assist those in care to the point that they can live independently.  The organization also runs Growing Grounds Farms, providing employment and fundraising opportunities for patients and the organizations.  The public can help by purchasing Christmas Trees or Poinsettia Plants from the group during the holidays, or by participating in the annual bowl-a-thon.

Club members were very supportive, acknowledging that nearly half of the club knew someone, or a family member of someone who is struggling with mental illness.  Chief Copsey complimented the work of the organization and stated that the department often refers people to the agency.  Thank you Jackie Garza and Transitions Mental Health!

NOVEMBER IS FOUNDATION MONTH!

HAPPY BUCKS: Lisa was $25 happy as she just got back from Mexico. While queued by Mr Nichols, Lisa also was asked to cough more happy bucks for the shotgun she had just purchased...Dick and Narlene were both happy about something very important regarding their family. 

FINES: Narlene was asked which country requires a permit for a gathering of 5 people or more? Correct answer was Singapore. Fined $@20. Lisa was asked which candy is the best selling candy in America? She said Snickers but it was Reese's. $10 fine. Bev was asked which college has the best game day? Clemson for a fine of $5. Sandy was asked what year was the first world series carried on radio? 1921. Fine of $10. 

District Conference was held this past weekend at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo.  Our sister city hosted the 73 clubs in the district, offering tours of Hearst Castle, Wine Tasting, Bike Tours, and more.  Past RI President Kalyan Banerjee gave an inspirational speech on Friday night, followed by Rick King on Saturday morning.  Ron Burton could not attend, but sent a representative to move the crowd on Saturday night.  The weekend concluded with a Sunday morning inspirational talk given by Shirley Grace.

Several members of the Rotaract Club of SLO attended and presented a video highlighting a recent trip to Mexico, where they got dirty building a room addition for a local family.  All were very impressed by this dynamic young club.  The conference was made even more special by visiting delegations from our sister districts in both South Korea and Mexico.

Vocational/Community/new Generations/International/Membership club chairs speak...

Jack McClenahan joined the Rotary Club of Santa Paula in 1978.  He has since been a member of the Rotary Clubs of Ojai, Moraga, and finally Ojai-West. Before Jack and Jane and family moved to southern California, he was a high school teacher and coach in Berkeley for 12 years.  After leaving the classroom, Jack worked in educational fund development for 32 years, mainly at his Alma Mater Saint Mary’s College in Moraga.  He is now retired.

He was Rotary Club of Ojai Club Secretary for five years and Rotarian of the Year in 1987-88.  He was the club’s voting delegate to international conventions in Munich 1987 and Philadelphia 1988.  With Jane, he has attended twelve Rotary conventions, often serving as District promotions chair or co-chair.  After joining the Rotary Club of Ojai-West, he was fundraising chair for the club’s Rotary Centennial project, Rotary Community Park.  He served as Club President in 2005-06. He has been a participant and/or presenter at ten President-Elect Retreats, eleven President-Elect Training Seminars (known as PETS), numerous District Mid-Terms, Assemblies, Membership Seminars, and Foundation Seminars. 

Jack served as Chief Operating Officer for DG 2012-13 Frank Ortiz until being selected as District Governor Nominee. On the multi-district level, he was a Director of The Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee Inc from 2007 to 2013; and he was a 2012-13 Director of Southern California and Nevada PETS Inc.

We would like to welcome Regina Sheldon to her new post, President, of our mighty club! Regina has been in Rotary for 8 years and has carried the positions of; Treasurer, Foundation Chair, and Interim Secretary. Regina has been in the area for twenty years and is a graduate of Cal Poly. She brings a wealth (she works at Mission Community Bank) of knowledge to the club and we are so excited to have her at the helm!!!

Past DG Wade Nomura visited the club on January 29th.  He shared the goings on at the District, and his many, many duties as a past District Governor.  Wade and his wife Roxanne continue to run their business in Carpenteria, while serving the District.  Wade has had the honor of visiting multiple countries while representing RI.  He has been honored to serve as the President's representative, not once, but twice (an unusual achievement).  During his term as DG, Wade traveled throughout the District and abroad, visiting each of his clubs twice, and spending very few days at home.  He has served in multiple positions at the District level, most recently serving as the Rotary Rose Parade coordinator, and as representative to current RI President Ron Burton.  Wade's commitment to Rotary is truly inspiring!

Peter Houck is a mentor for the Service Corps of Retired ("Re-Fired," he added) Executives, and came to our Club this morning to talk about the SCORE program and why the national organization exists with an office in our county.

Impact Magic President Jim Richardson spoke to our Club on "Success Simplified" a method of getting started on achievement as you would get started on an investment: now.

San Luis Obispo County's Public Health Division Manager Steve Lieberman gave the Club a thorough telling of what exactly happens, and happens quickly, in case of a local emergency medical situation.

From ancient times, the torch bearers have been the first on the paths of discovery, exploration and battle, illuminating the ways for those to follow. Rotarians committed to be a torch bearer will invite, unite and ignite new members, whose fire and energy will add to theirs to help overcome the darkness of poverty, illiteracy, hunger, and disease.

Motivational speaker and Realtor Glenn Hoving showed he does indeed have a passion for communication in providing our program, entitled "Attitude, Gratitude and Passion: The Three Keys to Success".

Program Chair Anthony Salas introduced a woman of many hats, currently a sports talk show host on local ESPN1280, and author of a new book entitled No Girls Allowed, the effervescent C.J. Silas.

Robert Robert introduced Janee Sheppard from the Make-A-Wish Foundation (MAW). She has been a volunteer for the past two years and wanted to give back and give to her community.

Martin Anderson, the 5240 District Vocational Chair, was introduced to speak on his specialty for Vocational Service Month. A coin and stamp dealer in Thousand Oaks, he joined the Rotary Club there in 1989. He has served a host of Club jobs, culminating in becoming Club President in 2008-09. His Club was named Best Overall Club in the District that year.

President Narlene Carter-Keenan introduced Wade Nomura, this year's District 5240 Governor and member of the Rotary Club of Carpenteria Morning. From being just a body to help qualify his club for Rotary certification, Wade has been President of his club, is the only Potential Rotary Leadership Seminar instructor certified to teach all the Basic and Master PRLS modules, has served on the District level in many capacities, and has been on 17 international project missions. His wife, Roxanne, was club president before Wade, and they have two children and one grandchild, all of whom are Paul Harris Fellows.

Our speakers Rick Haydon and Luke Llamas represented the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Rick, an Arroyo Grande resident and a member of the Santa Maria Noontime Rotary Club, is on the FCA Board of Directors, and Luke, a nationally-recognized track and cross-country athlete and Cal Poly graduate, is the area director for the Central Coast Chapter of the CFA.

Chazala Sinclaire spoke to us about the upcoming Oceano Clean-Up Project. She was introduced to the Club by Service Chair Robert Robert.

An Oceano resident on the Oceano Community Service District's Clean-Up Day committee, Chazala said that a postcard was sent out to the residents of Oceano that they need to

"clean up the joint." The county unincorporated area south of GroverBeach hadn't had a community clean-up day in 13 years. The Clean-Up day will be October 15-16, with a followup a week later to haul large appliances and furniture.

District 5240 PRLS Extension Chair David Gore began his presentation by handing out a worksheet like the ones encountered in one of the District's Master PRLS classes, asking to describe a problem we've encountered in Rotary, our business, or in a family setting, and wanting us to pick one and then share it in front of everyone.

Mark Shaffer is the founder and Executive Director of FunRide, a green car sharing service that has been operating in San Luis Obispo County for two years. He was introduced as our speaker by Club Service Chair Robert Robert.

Lisa Ray from Lisa Ray's Donation Group (soon to be officially the Children's Resource Group of the CentralCoast) was introduced by Club Service Program Chair Robert Robert. Her organization helps local children in need by providing clothing, shoes, backpacks, school supplies, Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving meals and Christmas presents.  Lisa started the organization two years ago by reaching out to her friends on Facebook to help one single mom in need, and her efforts have grown through word of mouth to become a leading resource for family advocates and local agencies that cater to families living in poverty.

Club Service Program Chair Robert Robert introduced Nora O'Donnell, the Recreation Coordinator forthe City of Grover Beach, and President of the area Camp Fire USA Council, the local organization's board of directors. She has been with Camp FireUSA since 1967, and worked as a CampCounselor at CampNatoma in Paso Robles.

Young Chelsea Killian gave a brief summary of her year in France, abroad due to her participation, with Club help, in the Rotary Exchange Program. She returned to the States one month ago, after touring Europe by train.

Club Service Program Chair Robert Robert introduced online marketing expert and Rotary District 5240 Communications, Social Media, and Website Czar Michael Boyer, who spoke on the topic, "Social Media – Seven Steps to Socializing Strategy".

Club Service Program Chair Robert Robert introduced our very own Rotarian Dick Keenan, who is also a Pismo Beach July Fourth Pyrotechnics Extraordinaire.  Dick has been helping with the PB Pyrotechnics for 12 years and this year the crew also provided the fireworks show for the AG Centennial Celebration.

Club Service Chairperson Robert Robert introduced our new club president Narlene Carter-Keenan, and Ms Narlene presented a slide show of her trip to New Orleans and the Rotary International Convention, told why she became a Rotarian, and gave each member present a Rotary pin representing this year's theme, Reach Within to Embrace Humanity.

In a fabulous setting under a clear starry night at Giuseppe's, President Sandy Nichols handed the Rotary Club of Grover Beach gavel to new President Narlene Carter-Keenan.

At a lunch meeting at the Grover Beach Station of the Five Cities Fire Authority, the Rotary Club of Grover Beach honored the men and women employed as Police Officers and Fire Personnel in our town.

Orthopedic Surgeon Marc Weiss was introduced as our presentation speaker, on the topic of Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release, a procedure that has developed into a clean operation to allow people to recover from the pain of carpal tunnel faster and to expect to be free from recurrence.

President Sandy Nichols made two Book Program Presentations to the two attending principals:  Tom Butler(pictured) and Jeff Martin.  Each were awarded a Book Program Certification from our Club along with nearly 20 book plates representing our guest speakers and the dates each appeared plus a check on behalf our club.  Instead of giving our guest speakers a gift for speaking to our club, in 2009, our Board of Directors made a decision to give a book to a local middle school (Paulding, Mesa, and Judkins) in the name of the week's guest speaker.

Our Guest Speaker, Brian Grant, the grant development and community director from the LifeWater Foundation, an organization whose mission is to partner with the poor to bring their communities safe water.

Kim Gebhart, a teacher and advisor at Paulding Middle School was introduced by President Sandy Nichols.  The Rotary Club of Grover Beach presented Mrs. Gebhart with a Certificate of Appreciation for being the YouthAct Advisor.  YouthAct is a Rotary-sponsored middle-school service club. Her school brought in 1200 cans of food for the YouthAct Club's First Project, a Canned Food Drive which benefits six needy families associated with PauldingSchool.  Each family will receive four cloth food bags (provided by Spencer's Markets) with 25 cans of food in each bag.  We will be back at the school in the Fall to start up the next YouthAct Club.  Kim felt it was a great lesson for the kids, taught them leadership and taught them how to give back.  

Pismo Beach-5 Cities Rotarian Michael Boyer was a group leader at the Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly this year, his third year as a counselor.  He said there were 208 high school students at RYLA, and nine attended from this area. He brought five of those students with him this morning.

Our guest speakers were Liz Tracy and Rachel Walker from the Job Development Center/Career 1 Stop Shop in Grover Beach. Miss Liz is an Employment Specialist, and Rachel Walker supplies stimulus to businesses for hiring workers.

Our Guest Speaker was Jim Hogeboom, the Superintendent of Schools for the Lucia Mar Unified School District.   He attended Cal Berkeley; received his teaching credentials.  Taught high school in Corvallis, Oregon.  Has been with Lucia Mar for 3 years.  He has known his wife since she was 4 years of age!

Rotary's Eco Club Program was the topic of our Guest Speaker, John Weiss. From the Rotary Club of Morro Bay and a Past President, John also owns Coast Electronics/Radio Shack there. Rotary is his passion.

Gary Canant served in Vietnam in 1968 then returned in 2007 to play taps in the DMZ.  Gary Today, Vietnam borders Cambodia and Laos.  During the war between North and a South Viet Nam, the De-Miliarized Zone ran along the common border.  To promote his book, Dear Maxie: Love Letters from Vietnam. Gary narrated a slide show with maps and photos of the QuangTriProvince during the war and upon his return.  The war took its toll on a country that has now forgiven the intrusion.

A Paul Harris Fellowship award, not from the club but from President Sandy Nichols, was given in line with working toward our goals is to be a 100% Paul Harris club.  President Miss Sandy read the Rotary Foundation's information sheet and highlighted all the projects our club does.  The honor is for "appreciation and recognition" and her selection is for the person in our club who lives and demonstrates the good of helping persons in need and around the world.  With great fanfare and exuberance and several high notes of excitement President Miss Sandy honored our own Sandra Sansoni!!  Who was so surprised!!!  And most excited!!!!

This year marks 100 years of incorporation for the neighboring city of Arroyo Grande, and their Centennial Celebration, Inc. group sent their Co-director of Centennial Events and corporate Vice-President Bob Lund and their Chief Honcho of the Centennial Bike Event Gil Pitt to update and promote the summer celebration ahead.

President Sandy Nichols received an e-mail from DGE Frank Ortiz regarding the Rotary response to the Japan earthquake/tsunami disaster. To send money through Rotary to Japan, see Sandy or Regina Sheldon.  We know that Rotary gets all donations through to its destination, and your donation receives Paul Harris points. 

Rotarian Larry Emrich was introduced, and he first gave his background as well as his club activities: served as chair for his club, many chair positions, and is a Basic and Advanced PERLS holder. Larry said he wants to eradicate polio. 

Justice Osiecki , as part of her FFA training, gave a brief speech on the importance of agriculture to humanity. Her mostly memorized talk included ruminations on milk, greenhouse gases, cows, temperature, farmers, ranchers, electricity, advanced farming practices, farms, power from farming, programs, nature conservancy, food, fiber and the future. She received a hearty ovation for an excellent presentation.

Sandra Sansoni introduced Clyde Boyer, District 5012 Past District Governor, and his wife Vivian Finlay, and they presented a slide show about their travel to India and South Africa.  It was a 30-hour travel time.  They did stay in India. Vivian is from South Africa and she has a twin sister and attended their 60th birthday party there.  Great beaches!  Stayed at a resort that is on the lake, a good place for tourists. Put up by a Rotarian, they were very gracious hosts. Clyde wanted to make sure Vivian mentioned how to connect with Rotarians in South Africa.  You can apply to stay with Rotarian families there and you may do the same thing here.

Food Bank Coalition way back when) is now a docent at the HearstCastleState Park and his topic today was William Randolph Hearst, the man behind the famous edifice.

Frank Ortiz , DGNE, from the Rotary Club of Santa Maria, Breakfast, the Community Service Director for Rotary District 5240, spoke about the Rotary Food Bank Project.

It's a tradition of the Grover Beach Rotary Club to give the floor to its members to talk about their profession. Today, it was Certified Public Accountant Bruce Ekmanian and Grover Beach Police Chief Jim Copsey's turn to enlighten the room.

Christian Hesch began his presentation of the Cuesta College Paramedic Program with his life story.  He is a long distance runner whose father's firefighting career finally touched his life. His presentation touched upon the life of a paramedic student.  He finds this profession to be a bit selfish in that it is so gratifying.  He is turning a situation around into comfort and security.

President Sandy Nichols started her Club Assembly by showing a video, "The History of Rotary".  One of many videos available about Rotary on YouTube, Sandy said, "You can learn a lot about Rotary.  We are at the 6 month mark of my Presidency." 

Blue Badge for Jim "Santa for Life" Kelsey. President Sandy Nichols handed him the earned badge as well as a photo of his great Father Christmas work at the Boys & Girls Club Christmas Party in Oceano in December.

Cathy Orton , from the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) was introduced, and she led off her presentation with a short video on her organization. CASA has recognized that every year more than one million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes.

District Governor Deepa Willingham was introduced by our Group 10 Representative Kendra Kinglinger.  Miss Kendra thanked the club for allowing her to make the introduction today and noted that we will all enjoy the presentation today (which will tug at our hearts) as Deepa is renowned in the Rotary world with her great attitude and heart and likes to have fun and drink those mango margaritas. 

            Sandra Sansoni introduced the speaker: Marci Powers is a retired supervising probation officer from Ventura County.  She has lived in SLOCounty for six years.  In 2009 she was hired by the county to be Coordinator of the Anti-Gang Coordinating Commission.  Marci brings years of experience to this position and a firm conviction that gangs are a community problem and must be addressed at the community level. 

Sandra Sansoni introduced Troy & Maverick Ellison, Fluid Resource Management; a family run business started by their father 35 years ago; a business where more than half of the family members work, helping bigger companies and utilities treat and discharge waste water.

            Sandra Sansoni introduced Jerry Kelley: videographer, MLB scout, member of the Rotary Club of AG who journeyed to Honduras to photograph activities related to the cataract eye surgery project.

Our speaker, Brenda Cressey is a member of the RC of Paso Robles, past District 5240 Governor; she serves in a number of leadership roles at all levels of Rotary and the Rotary Foundation, including keynote speaker at the 2009 RI Assembly, served as a President's Representative several times at District Conferences around the world; three year term as RI Regional Membership Coordinator and Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator. She is a recipient of the RI "Service Above Self Award" and the RF "Citation of Meritorious Service Award"; her dream is to see the end of polio.  She and her husband, Dick, are multiple Paul Harris Fellows, Major Donors and Level II Bequest Society members.

            In introducing the speaker, Sandra Sansoni reports that the Club has decided that instead of a few small fundraisers that we would try one big one.  Jim Coles, a professional golfer is associated with Kingdom Partners, an organization who assists nonprofits to put on a fundraiser that is fun, simple and successful; a 100-hole golf marathon.

            At a Vocational Meeting at Me & Z's Restaurant, speakers were introduced: Bob Perrault, Grover Beach City Manager, aka Cowboy Poet Bob and John Shoals, the great Mayor of the City of Grover Beach.

            Sandra Sansoni introduced the speakers: Leanna Roberts, Rotary Club of Vail, CO, and executive director of Orphan Act; Rachael Hughes, New Zealand and currently heading a Living Hope Hostel in Vladivostok, Russia; founder of  LIVINGHOPE, an officially registered charity for the rehabilitation of homeless children.

Sandra Sansoni introduced Dave Congalton, the number one talk show host on the CentralCoast since his show debuted in January 1992. The former college instructor offers up "Hometown Radio" weekday afternoons from 3 to 7 p.m., mixing discussion of national and local topics. Congalton is an award-winning author and freelance writer. 

President Sandy Scott, with sponsor Anita Shower looking on, inducted Robert Robert as a new Club member.  Having been approved by Club members, he is welcomed as a new member and admitted to the worldwide organization of Rotary.  He will be expected to attend all meetings and add his knowledge and talent to Club activities.  Robert responded by saying that he has enjoyed his recent past involvement with the Club and expects to continue to do so.  He has two children and six grandchildren.  He has been challenged to beat his sponsor's eight day conversion from the red to the blue badge.  CONGRATULATIONS, ROBERT ROBERT!

Introduction:   Proposition 19, also known as the Regulate, Control and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010, a California ballot proposition on the November 2, 2010 California statewide ballot.  It legalizes various marijuana-related activities, allows local governments to regulate these activities, permits local governments to impose and collect marijuana-related fees and taxes, and authorizes various criminal and civil penalties.  In March 2010 it qualified to be on the November statewide ballot.  It requires a simple majority to pass.  As of September 2010, even if the proposition is passed, the sale of marijuana will remain illegal under federal law via the Controlled Substances Act.

Jim Kelsey, sponsored by Breven Baima, was inducted into the Club as a new member by President Nichols who said that he would be a worthy member and would exemplify Rotary values in the community.  Kelsey, receiving a bent Rotary pin, said he was looking forward to being a part of Rotary and becoming involved in the community.

Presentation by Sandra Sansoni of the events going on for AmpSurf this week:  really busy week.  Miss Sandra is now the Assistant Director of AmpSurf and Bruce Ekmanian is the CPA and both are on the Board of Directors. 

Sandra Sansoni introduced Linda Hardy and staff members, Sarah Phipps & Kailyn Gunther:  Linda Hardy has been employed in the County Animal Control Services for eleven years, has a degree in biology and has been a humane educator since 1982.  Phipps and Gunther are volunteer staff members and active in CampP.A.W.S. (Pet and Wildlife Study).

            Sandra Sansoni introduced today's speakers: Heather Hellman has had extensive experience in brand marketing communications working for major Fortune 500 companies.  In 2003 she established Highway 101 Communications providing branding experience and knowledge to small companies on the CentralCoast.  She has developed campaigns for American Express, Chevron, Texaco, and Honda to name a few companies.  In 2010 she partnered with Samantha Pruitt and established Get Off The Couch Potato Sports Productions to bring world-class events to the central coast.

            Sandra Sansoni introduced James Glinn, Founder of the Movement For Life Team with locations in Arizona and California.  He is a graduate of LomaLindaUniversityMedicalCenter and has completed his doctorate in Physical Therapy through the University of St. Augustine and the North American Sports Medicine Institute.  He has trained and rehabilitated All-Americans, Olympians, amateur and professional athletes.

Sandra Sansoni introduced Diane Auten: Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Communications Studies.  She is a full-time college instructor, business owner of Competent Communications, and consultant in the field of communication.  Being a wife and mother, she has ample opportunity to try and test her skills in communication.

President Nichols conducted our annual Club Assembly and asked Service and Committee chairs to give their reports and outline their goals for this fiscal year.

            Bruce Ekmanian was born and raised in the Culver City area.  They lived near a movie lot and occasionally heard bomb sounds coming out of the sets.  He graduated from Culver CityHigh School and was selected as South Bay Area All Star football defensive end.  "The best job I ever had was working for Zeppy's Pizza.  We wore bathing suits, t-shirts and tennis shoes."  He received his AA degree from West LA College and finished his college work at FresnoStateUniversity in 1975 with a degree in Accounting. 

Past President Lisa Evans conducted a ceremony to recognize Jennifer Frasca, our sterling breakfast server for the past many years, who will soon be leaving for medical school to become a brain surgeon. 

            Sandra Sansoni introduced Shannon Martin, who has been shooting the Pismo Beach Fireworks show since 1979; who has traveled afar in the US as well as to other countries to ply his pyrotechnic skills.  Dave Anderson, the owner of Central Coast Printing who has been assisting Martin on the Pismo pier for almost as many years; and, Dick Keenan, who has been shooting with Martin and Anderson on the pier for almost ten years. 

            President Nichols said that Hannah Brown will be a worthy representative of Rotary.  She is expected to carry the principles of Rotary into the community; and into her social, public, business and private life.  She was presented with her Rotary Pin and the Red Badge to be replaced with a blue badge after completing a few simple requirements.  Brad Evans, her sponsor, will also be her mentor. 

            Sandy Nichols introduced the speakers: Arnie Dowdy, 1984 Charter member and past president of the PB/5 Cities Club; president of Rotary Club of Santa Paula; past District 5240 Governor; PRLS and Master PRLS graduate; Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service; Major Donor; Retired City Manager, Grover City.  First international project was his marriage to Maria, native of Portugal.

            Sandy Nichols introduced guest speaker: Neil Dilworth; A licensed architect, he was raised in Pasadena.  He received his degree in Architecture from Cal Poly in 1974, interned in Malibu doing custom homes.  He returned to San Luis Obispo and opened his own office in 1980.

            President Evans assisted by Anita Shower, Membership chair, inducted Andrew Goodman as a new member of the worldwide fraternity of Rotary.  As Evans attached the Rotary pin, she reminded Goodman of the importance of the Rotary 4 Way Test and the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self".  Goodman said he was honored and privileged to join the Club and looked forward to getting to know everyone better.  Evans appointed Brad Evans as Goodman's mentor.  The ceremony was followed by a standing ovation.

Officer Shane Day has been a police officer with the City of Arroyo Grande for nine years where he has been an instructor for field duty, impact weapons and arrest and control.  He was recently given the opportunity to work as a K-9 Handler.  His partner is a 20 month old German Shepherd named Gregor Latiska Skala from Slovakia. 

Cal Poly Men's Basketball Coach Joe Callero was introduced by President Lisa Evans with great fanfare and outrageous facts.  Coach Callero has a master's degree in Education and counseling and is a native of WashingtonState.  He is married to Erica and they have a ten-year-old daughter. The Coach has been living in Arroyo Grande for a full year and knows it has a great sense of community, and that the SouthCounty is a unique area.

Our Guest Speaker was none other than "QL+" Business Director Mike Gorbell, introduced by President Miss Lisa.  He is a former Rotarian from the Santa Maria Breakfast Club, who is looking for a new club (hint, hint).

Introduced by Sandy Nichols; Erin Hoffman hails from a small town south of Jackson, WY.  She and her husband did extensive research to find a new home along the coast of California to get away from the cold winters in WY and chose SLOCounty.  She is the founder of ORGANIZE Coach, a professional firm that helps professionals and businesses to identify problems in the office that are costing them money in time and stress.  By careful organizing, she will be able to coach you into streamlining the way an office works, essentially eliminating hours of wasted time.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in La Cañada where he graduated from an all-boy, Catholic high school as a decorated water polo player, singer and academian, Michael's ambition was to become a pastoral counselor.  He attended Pepperdine University and was bit, however, by the business bug.  He graduated with a degree in Psychology; emphases in philosophy, counseling and business.  While he worked for Pepperdine in their Advancement Information Management division, he managed to set aside enough time to become a nationally ranked amateur bodyboard competitor; winning the West Coast Men's Championship.  As coach of Pepperdine's surf team, his surfers also became a top notch team in the nation.

            Michael Phares, finance/marketing, was inducted by President Evans.  Phares was sponsored by Linda Garcia; Anita Shower stood in for absent Linda.  Evans said that Phares will be a worthy representative and encouraged him to wear the Rotary pin daily with pride.  As she pinned on his Red Badge, she welcomed Phares as a new member; a standing ovation greeted the new member welcoming him into the Club.  Phares said he was joining a fun bunch of people who give so much to our community.  Anita Shower was appointed as his mentor.

Sandy Nichols introduced our fabulous speaker:  Mike DiMilo.  Mike came here from Los Angeles to attend Cal Poly in 1958.  He majored in Environmental Education and Natural Resources Management.  He works for the San Luis County Integrated Waste Management Authority. 

            President Evans introduced the Beaudoins to the Club.  She and Sandra Sansoni, who headed the fundraiser, presented them with all of the wonderful first date certificates donated by club Rotarians and local merchants.  Marcia said, "I know how much hard work goes into one of these fundraisers and Bruce and I really appreciate your effort.  Thank you."  All but seven of the 150 tickets were sold by Club members.  Congratulations, Bruce and Marcia! 

"Fifty First Dates" came to an end today with the drawing of the winning raffle ticket.  Sandra Sansoni reported that 143 out of the 150 tickets were sold and congratulated everyone for participating in this much needed Club fund raiser.  She also thanked everyone for seeking out businesses to donate a "date".  The Club owes a big thanks to Sandra Sansoni for all of the hard work that went into this successful program. 

Sandy Nichols introduced the speaker, Carl Hansen: Bachelor's Degree from Santa Clara University; Master's and Doctorate from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley.  Co-founder of Loaves & Fishes in Paso Robles and I-HELP, homeless men's shelter in Monterey.  He volunteers as a priest and chaplain for several organizations.  Dr. Hansen has been aligned with the needs of the hungry and homeless for over 25 years.  He currently serves as the Executive Director of Food Bank Coalition of SLO County, a non-profit organization.

President Miss Lisa was the program for today and because she is the president she is entitled to delegate anyone to be the program.  Because her husband snored most of the way home from the Conference over the weekend and then woke up at some point and talked for 20 minutes about "I think this and I think that" about Rotary, President Miss Lisa asked Mr. Evans to be our guest speaker today and give his views of the District Conference as seen through the eyes of a new member.

Lisa Evans was presented with the Paul Harris award by District Governor Ortiz-Smith.  In making the presentation, the District Governor said that the award, offered by the RI Foundation, funds of which, are used to promote worldwide peace, goodwill and projects that provide a better life for people.  Lisa reported that $800 of the $1,000 she paid went towards the $1,400 our Club will pay for the matching Honduras Cataract grant.  CONGRATULATIONS, LISA, AND WELCOME TO THE PH CLUB!

Michael Wambolt, properly mentored by Steve Schumann, and having met all Blue Badge requirements in record time, was formally presented his new badge of membership by President Evans.  CONGRATULATIONS, MICHAEL!

      Mike Balster recently submitted his resignation which was reluctantly accepted by the Board.  Mike has been an extremely active member of the Club for almost four years.  He developed the Club's web site and has served as web site master; he has served as the manager of the Club Bulletin, the Ocean View, and manager of the Club's Public Relations program. 

Mike Balster is stepping down as Web Master, Bulletin Editor, and Public Relations Chair. These duties will now be shared by Steve Schumann, Richard Roberts, Anita Shower, and Lisa Evans.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Dominic Tartaglia: A fifth generation ranch kid, attended SLO High School and Cal Poly; graduated with a BS in Agricultural Systems Management. He is a sales Representative for Tartaglia Realty, a family business. President-to-be of the SLO Rotaract Club, a developing organization to promote young people in the community to become community involved.

     Dominic explained that the SLO Rotaract does not yet have the 15 required members to be chartered by RI. He said that members range in age 18-30 and that there are two categories of Rotaract: University based Club and a Community based Club. There Club will be a Community based club with a community college emphasis.

     Lisa Evan introduced Chuck Anders, president of Strategic Initiatives, a consulting firm that specializes in using technology for strategic planning and issue resolution. He is a licensed PE, has been Assistant Director of Arizona DOT. He moved to AG in 1997 with wife, six dogs, five llamas, and numerous birds, cats, and goats.

     Chuck worked with Lisa to develop questions about club activities and future direction for the club. The questions were asked and quickly individually answered by each club member. The answers were anonymous and immediately tabulated. The results of the voting clearly showed the direction the membership felt the club should move, what the membership felt worked best and worst regarding past club functions.

The club presented Dana with a check for $600 from the BBQ the club hosted during the Amp Surf event. Dana said that 21 people participated in the event, 2/3 were veterans from VA hospitals, 2 are still on active duty, and 1/3 were local amputees.

Marcus Garcia R.N., Central Coast Home Health Care is inducted into the club with his sponsor Lisa Evans and his classification is Home Health Care. Marcus co-owns Central Coast Home Health which is a skilled nursing agency. Hospitals are sending people home faster and they still need medical care so Central Coast Home Health Care is there to serve. Marcus is ready to share some of his can-do spirit with the club and we welcome him.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Kristy Wilson as a resident of the Central Coast for 23 years and has worked for Glenn Burdette Phillips and Bryson for 9 years.

     Kristy believes that a person has to want to do collections in order to be good at it. She started as a medical assistant for a pediatrician and soon began doing collections for the office and that was her start. She was good at collections and front office work. She later took a job repossessing artificial limbs and noted that it was a difficult job.

     Lisa Evan introduced Dr. Thomas Ferro with an impressive list of achievements and exemplary professional and educational accomplishments.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Carolyn Novack: Novack has worked for the ARC, SLO County Chapter, as a national and local volunteer for 4 years. Born in LA, she worked 20 years in the sports radio industry. She recently completed her first book and is now working on her second. She is a roller derby girl under the name of CJ Hooker.

Thad Stelly is inducted into the Grover Beach Rotary. Anita Shower, his sponser, presented Thad with his red badge. Thad said he was thankful for being a new member and is anxious to take a more active role in the community.

The Chief, Mike Hubert, expounded upon the virtues of the City of Grover Beach including the fire department and the willingness of the city managers of both Grover Beach and Arroyo Grande to realize the necessity of merging the two fire departments in order to fully benefit the area. Once the necessity was noticed Oceano Community Services' District joined the other two communities.

Linda Garcia , Executive Director of the Grover Beach Chamber of Commerce, is inducted into the Grover Beach Rotary Club. Kevin Woolley proposed Linda for membership; Linda brings a wealth of experience and is a wonderful addition to our club.

Christine Miller , Aflac Insurance, is inducted into the Grover Beach Rotary Club. Lisa Evans proposed Christine for membership and Christine has already become a lively member of our club.

After seeing the skit put on to roast the outgoing presidents, Lisa looked a little worried about what might be in store for her demotion dinner.

Gael is a vivacious woman who lives her life with gusto. She shares her enthusiasm with the club and we are happy to have her as a member. Gael's fun-loving cantankerous attitude help make our meetings lively and enjoyable.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Gary Hoving: A 34 year veteran law enforcement officer who recently retired as Chief Deputy, SLO Sheriff's Department.  BA in Administration/Justice; graduate of the FBINationalAcademy and a published author.  Founder and current president of the California Law Enforcement Historical Society.

      Introduced by proud dad, Breven Baima. Domenic is a junior at AGHS and will be seventeen next Monday.

      Domenic said his dad would transfer him back to Mission Prep School if he would apply to attend RYLA. He still didn't want to go but he found out that they served pizza at the interview so he thought he would go with a friend for support; the friend never showed. He was interviewed by Steve Curry and Steve Schumann. He was nervous during the interview and was surprised that he was accepted.

     Grover Beach Community Library volunteers, Virginia Mothes and Maria Dowdy are signing up kids for the library's first summer reading program jointly sponsored by our Club. Also pictured is a Mom who came in with her younger kids to fill out the papers as her reader kid was in school. Almost ten kids have already signed up for the program that will culminate with a certificate presented to all who complete the ten chapter book reads. The certificates and a new free book will be presented by members of the Rotary and the library on August 14^th.

     City Councilmember, Bill Nicolls, introduced the speakers, Michael Hubert,                  Director of Building and Fire, Fire Chief and Jim Copsey, Police Chief.

     Hubert expressed his appreciation to the Rotary Club and for all they do for the community. He discussed the on going consolidation of fire services for the cities of Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande and the Oceano CSD. They are working towards a joint power authority including a proposed budget that will be presented for review with the idea that a plan will go forward to the governing bodies of each entity in the near future.

Rotary's Four Way test and the life lessons found in an etiquette book go hand in hand. The simile of truth and etiquette bring a vivid picture to the mind, one that focuses on upbringing, support, benefit, fairness, and graciousness. All of the lessons a young person should be introduced to are found in etiquette just as all of life's lessons a grown person should be aware of are found within the twenty-four words that are the make-up of the Four Way Test.

Joe Brittingham is a Certified Financial Planner and a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones Investments located in the OHS/Long's Shopping Center in Pismo Beach, California. Mr. Brittingham began his financial career in 1996. Mr. Brittingham mentioned that we have witnessed many cycles in the financial market and that the market survives on two main factors:  fear and greed. There have been two major cycles:  the tech bubble which we all remember and the recent real estate turn-of-events. Oil and gas have hit some peaks as have government securities.

Marc Garcia, R.N. is one of four owners of Central Coast Home Heath, Inc. Marc began his presentation with the realization that all of us, at some time, will probably help or take care of our parents. Central Coast Home Health is a skilled nursing agency. What they are prepared to do is occupational therapy, physical therapy, wound care, and give instructions to care givers. CCHH also provides speech therapy, has access to a nutritionist, and a medical social worker on staff to work with the nurses.

     Sandy Nichols introduced the speaker: Jen Miller graduated from Fordham University in 2005; directed a Vocational School in Africa for three years; volunteered with Alpha to work with moms and babies and is currently the interim executive director with Alpha; on April 4^th, she married her high school sweetheart.

     Sandy Nichols introduced the guest speaker, Brian Keowski: AGHS graduate; Political Science degree from Cal Poly; law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego; practicing attorney, Shell Beach Law Group; Cuesta College instructor; President of San Luis Obispo County Historical Society Museum; member and past chair person of the Port San Luis Harbor Commission.

President Cavanaugh, assisted by Scott Nichols, presented Mike Leon with his well deserved, well earned and long time coming full member Blue Badge.

     Fifteen local Rotarians attended the presentation of the McGruff Safety book to the third grade classes at Grover Beach Elementary School. Led by Club member Sandra Sansoni, assisted by school principal, Juan Oliverria and crime fighter dog, McGruff, almost 100 books were distributed to very excited children. Grover Beach Rotary Club members congratulating the children as they received their books were: Sandra Sansoni, Steve Curry, Dick Keenan, Narlene Carter-Keenan, Jim Rowland, Mary Mylan, Bob Perrault, Tony Testa, Richard Roberts and Anita Shower.

     Sandy Nichols introduced guest speaker, Spencer Ponce: a junior at AGHS and a co- captain of the school speech and debate team who recently placed second in Original Oratory, first in Oratorical Interpretation and qualified for State finals. He was recently accepted into the American Legion Boys State program and accepted into a one week program at the Annapolis Naval Academy.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Jennifer Rhymes: 29 years with the YMCA. CEO for the Orange YMCA for 12 years. MS in Human Services administration and a BS from Cal Poly in recreation Administration. Started with the SLO County YMCA in 2001.

Several Club members showed up for some early morning hard work and breakfast goodies at the Grover Beach Community Library book sale on Saturday. They helped move hundreds of books from the library to tables and the parking lot. It's reported that the sale went well and went beyond the Library's expectations. Anita Shower receives her Blue Badge in record time from the Grover Beach Rotary Club. Anita brightens our morning meetings with her smile and flair and brings considerable expertise to our club. As a past president of the Pismo Beach Rotary, newspaper columnist, radio show host, television personality, and a pillar of our community she is clearly accomplished.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Terry Merlo: She has three children, two twin grand children and has been with New York Life Insurance for ten years. She is a recently certified by the State of California Long Term Care Planning agent. She is an active member of the Club.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Gael Mueller: Born in Lindsay, California, two older brothers, her father was a CPA and a Scandinavian tenor; she sang her first song, Sandbox Lullaby, at the age of 2 and gave her first formal speech at the age of eleven. Mueller is a practicing attorney and a member of the Club.

      Sandy Nichols introduced Eric Kelley & Daniel Silveira, Civil Engineering students at Cal Poly and representing Engineers Without Borders.

      The organization, founded in 2000 at University of Colorado, gives engineering students an opportunity for travel and to apply their skills to helping others in remote areas of the world. It is a non profit group that partners with disadvantaged communities to improve their quality of life through implementation of environmentally and economically sustainable engineering projects. Currently there are 200 chapters responsible for 170 projects in 71 countries. Cal Poly has 50 members in their chapter.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Danny Ender, a teacher at Lopez HS (LHS) for the past three years. He majored in History at UOP and his teaching credential at Cal Poly, and is now working on his Masters from Chapman University. He teaches US and World History and loves teaching at Lopez because of the diverse student population and his ability to help them achieve their goals in a small class environment.

      I just wanted to say thank you for ALL your hard work today. This project was a true challenge but at the end of the day I think we made a huge difference in Jo Ann's life, her neighbors and the community! It's always great working side by side with true friends and together we did something special for an elderly lady.

     Sandy Nichols introduced P.J. Webb: She is a member of the Center's Stranding and Education Department Team operating out of the Morro Bay Triage Facility. She is a public interest attorney, lives in Cambria and works in ocean conservation, wildlife advocacy and nonprofit organization consultation.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Chris Clark: An environmental attorney, member of the Bay Foundation Board of Directors; instructor in the City and Regional Planning Department at Cal Poly. He attended Grover Heights Elementary School.

     Chris started his presentation by telling us that he, as a kid, lived in Anita Shower's house and lived in Grover Beach for several years, attended Grover Heights Elementary School. One day, returning fresh from surfing, he hadn't even toweled off, made a visit to the old house and knocked on the door. This gracious lady opened the door, invited him into the foyer, listening to Chris explained why he was there, still dripping wet and in his bathing suit. It was a cordial, brief moment after which, embarrassed, he high tailed it back to his car. Anita said she doesn't remember the incident.

Very sadly, I have decided that due to other commitments I cannot continue my membership in the Grover Beach Rotary. I very much want to continue to support and work with Rotary to help our city and hope you'll keep me in the loop regarding projects and fundraisers. And I hope that at sometime in the not too distant future I'll be able to join again.

Sandy Nichols introduced Dr. Regan and he in turn introduced his wife, Carmen Enciso. Dr. Regan, a practicing audiologist, owns and operates an audiology and hearing instruments business, The Clinics, in Arroyo Grande. He is an Honorary International Rotarian. He and his wife perform medical missions for deaf children in Compostela, Mexico, several times each year.

Mary Ann Reiss has been juggling her busy schedule and our morning Rotary meeting for some time. She truly enjoys the Grover Beach Rotary members but due to schedule changes is unable to attend morning meetings. Mary Ann is an avid Rotarian and has already joined the Pismo-5 Cities Rotary Club. Their lunch meeting is a better fit for her schedule. We will miss Mary Ann but are glad she is staying active in a local Rotary Club.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Susan Tucker and her Assistant Dog Partner, Sir Lancelot. Susan has been in the pet/dog/horse training business for over thirty years. Training service dogs has been her life and passion. It is a way for people to live independently; people with health and mobility problems. Dogs are a good option and, if you have a disability, a way to live more independently. The human partner may have a hidden disability, such as cancer, chronic back pain from injuries aging attacks or a serious hearing impairment. Dogs can be trained to do medical alerts, blood sugar alerts and become life savers. Their harness can be designed to serve as a cane providing stability, counter balance and prevent you from falling. They are trained to fetch items needed by the partner and to give it to them in a manner that is comfortable.

     Bill Nicolls announced that Terry Merlo has been selected as the GB Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. Terry is one of our more active and productive members of the Club. She is also involved in other community service projects and "Service Above Self" is her by word. He encouraged club members to support Terry by attending the Chamber annual meeting and dinner, January 23, Pelican Point, 5:30 pm. Call 489-9091 for tickets. Congratulations, Terry!

Kevin Wooley has been very active in our club and a great asset. We all enjoy Kevin's hard work and quick wit. As a result of Kevin's active role in our club he received his blue badge in record time.

      Sandy Nichols introduced Dana Cummings: Served six years in the Marine Corps in both Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He is an amputee having lost a leg due to a car accident. Dana co founded AmpSurf, a non profit organization made up of amputees, those related to amputees, and those who work with amputees and others with disabilities. There purpose is to work with amputees through Adaptive Surfing and other fun safe outdoor activities. Dana has a degree in Computer Software Engineering and is currently the Executive Director of AmpSurf. He actively participates in surfing, water skiing and soccer.

Sandra Sansoni, sponsored by Breven Baima, having completed all of her new member tasks, was presented with her Blue Badge by President Scott. CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD WORK, SANDRA!!

President Scott presented our Mission Inn waitress, Jennifer, with a Christmas tip collected from the members and thanked her for her great smile and the great service she has given us over the past year. Jennifer said, "You are a great group, you always say hi to me and remember my name. Thank you!"

With heavy hearts the board has accepted Rebecca McMurray's resignation from our club. We wish her well her future endeavors.

      Sandy Nichols thanked Dick Keenan for stepping up with a program on short notice. Dick has worked in the real estate business for over 23 years; he has been married six years to his partner in the business, fellow Rotarian, Narlene Carter.

      Dick Keenan said that the Keenan Carter Group have a huge presence in Santa Maria, that they are focusing on foreclosure opportunities in the North Santa Barbara area and the title of his pictorial presentation is, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!". In speaking of the housing foreclosure market, he said that the seeds of the beginning of the best of times have been planted and we are in a time of considerable investment opportunity that only comes around every 10 to 15 years.

Steve Schumann received his blue badge in record time. Steve wasted no time in becoming thoroughly involved in our club. He has taken over printing our weekly bulletin, leads the song at the beginning of some of our meeting, and is coordinating a food drive. We are happy to have Steve as a member of our club.

     Mike Leon introduced Commander Jake Miller, saying that he has had the privilege to work with Jake for many years on the annual Thanksgiving Pismo Beach Community Dinner, sponsored by the Pismo Beach Police Officers Association, an event celebrating its 25^th anniversary this year.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Kendra Kimlinger president of the Arroyo Grande Rotary Club who is a participant in the matching grant program with Valparaiso Chile for the Scholars for Schools program.

      Sandy Nichols introduced Ms. Gael Mueller:  she graduated from San Diego State with a Bachelor's degree in 1981; received her law degree from McGeorge School of Law in 1985; worked 15 years as a public defender for Kern County; and, has six years of private practice exclusive to criminal defense.

      Ms. Mueller began her talk by relating 44 years ago her father took her to Washington DC where they visited the Capitol Senate chambers and she observed the vote for the 1964 Civil Rights Act, a historical event; and, now, just last night, Barrack Obama, the first black man elected to become the country's president. This event was accomplished smoothly, without riots, disorder in the streets, no gun fire and it speaks well for the unique democratic process that occurs in the United States of America. We should all be proud.

     Sandy Nichols introduced Ms. Bledsoe. She has a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology & Nutrition Science from UC, Davis. In college she competed in gymnastics, power lifting and bodybuilding. She holds the 1983 Ms. Golden Bear and Ms. Yolo County Bodybuilding titles. She is completing a book, "Boundary Keepers: How to Give Your Heart without Losing Your Mind". As a member of the "Sandwich Generation", she has personal experience in sustaining a balance between caring for her daughter and aging relatives at the same time.

      Arnie Dowdy, introduced by Sandy Nichols, is past president of the PB/Five Cities Club, past district 5042 Governor, past chair of the District Rotary Foundation, is still active in Rotary work and was characterized by Sandy as Mr. Rotary. And, if you need a good actor, he might be available.

      In his opening remarks, Dowdy said that a good speech is one with a good opening, a good ending and a short space in between. He relates that the Grover Beach Club really has a lot of fun and it's always a pleasure to attend our meetings. His story will be about Rotary.

The lighter crowds at this year's Clam Festival hurt our raffle however we did achieve some success. Thanks to the efforts of Mike, Breven, Terry, Brenda, Regina, Kevin, Bob, Gael, Breven again, Mike again, Mary, Mike again, Bill, Dick, Lisa, Scott, Sandy, Richard & Carol, Debbie, Mike again, and Tony.

      Lisa Evans introduced Dr. Amir as an Ophthalmologist, Pacific Eye Surgeons, received his degree from George Washington School of Medicine, has a specialty in cataract surgery and is the past president of the SLO Medical Association.

      Dr. Amir discussed the most common eye problems and complaints:

Gael was a military wife in her prior life. She graduated San DiegoState College with an economics degree. As a single Mom, Gael raised her 9 year old daughter while attending LawSchool.

Steve and his wife Julie own SLOCO Data & Printing. They print posters, mailers, cards, programs, and handle most other printing needs. They specialize in developing marketing mailers which are likely to be read by recipients.

Steve is now a member of Rotary, Foot Printers, a board member of the Nipomo Chamber of Commerce, and a member of LifeLinePregnancyCenter in GroverBeach.
