Abraham Mathew is the administrator and owner of High Desert Haven.  It is an assisted living and dementia care center located in Ridgecrest.  He will be talking about the services that are provided at the facility and the type of residents they can provide services..  

Biography

Abraham came to the United States from India after graduating from High School at the age of eighteen.  He signed up in the Navy within a month after arrival and served for four years.  In the Navy, he served on USS Roanoke as a disbursing clerk, processing payroll and preparing financial statements. After getting out of the Navy, he started working for a nursing home in San Jose, which was owned by Beverly Enterprises, who also built the nursing home in Ridgecrest. He worked as the Office Manager for Beverly and attended night school to obtain a degree in Business Administration.  Later, he was selected to the Administrator-in-training program and became a Nursing Home Administrator.  In August 1996, he moved to Bakersfield, as the administrator of a nursing home.  In 1997, he bought a 25 unit vacant property at Dolphin Ave, remodeled and converted to an assisted living facility.  In 2003, 28 more units were constructed and increased the capacity to 53 units.  Last year, another building was added with 24 rooms dedicated to dementia care.

Abraham has a wife and two boys. Oldest one is pursuing a business degree at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Second one is a junior at Centennial High School in Bakersfield.  His wife works as a registered nurse.
