A spirited team from the Rotary Passport Club of the Central Coast donned bowling shoes and signature team “bowler” hats to hit the lanes at Pismo Bowl on April 4th for an active evening of fellowship and FUNdraising at the 39th annual Hotline Bowl-A-Thon. The “Passport Rotary Pin Busters” team, which included Robin, Alice, Laura, Larry, Sam and Jessica, raised $1,285 for the important community service -- more than double their fundraising goal. They also won two awards at their Saturday night bowling shift: “Most Money Raised” by a team, and Outstanding Team Spirit.” Newer RPCCC club member Sam achieved the “Highest Score” award among the team.
This is the first year the "Passport Rotary Pin Busters” have bowled in this event. They hope to encourage participation among club members to enter two (or more) teams next year. Organized by Transitions-Mental Health Association (T-MHA), the annual Bowl-A-Thon benefits Central Coast Hotline -- the only local, 24/7, free, confidential crisis and suicide prevention telephone line — which provides critical one-on-one support to individuals and families, and mental health services information to the community. The event, which was held over two weekends, brought in $72,000 in total donations.
