Committee Chair Lorienne Schwenk

Rotary Club of Cambria Vocational Services Platform 2018/2019

Introduction: The Vocational Avenue of Service seeks to share the professional skills and resources of our club with members of the community and the world. Although at this time the committee officially consists of simply the chair, the reality is that each activity of service we provide is joined by many, if not all the members of our club. Following are some specifics and aspirations for the future.
Our Mission: Encourage and foster high ethical standards in business and professions, recognize the importance of all occupations, and spread the word that each Rotarian’s professional experience, skills, and talents provide an opportunity to serve our community and the world.
Aim: Through activities at our club meetings, volunteer activities in the community, donations of resources, and electronic communication tools, we seek to share our club members’ professional experiences, skills, and talents in ways that inspire personal and professional development within our club, among other professionals in our local town, and throughout the community at large.

Annual Vocational Services Projects:
  • Each March, in coordination with the Chamber of Commerce, our club’s Vocational Services sponsors a local social Mixer. Business owners and others are invited to attend. The goals of this event include bringing together members of the community in an environment that helps to initiate and foster professional relationships, introduce others to the magic that is Rotary, and to have fun!
  • Each August, in coordination with our local school district, Vocational Services prepares and serves a back-to-school breakfast for our dedicated teachers and staff. This event expresses the Rotary Club of Cambria’s gratitude for all the hard work and dedication these folks devote to shaping the promising futures of our local students.
  • Each November, in coordination with our club’s Youth Services, we invite local students to assist with our annual fundraiser (i.e., Viva). The aim is to provide these soon-to-be young professionals with the opportunity to experience the rewards of being part of a larger professional group that seeks to give back to the community through service and fundraising.

Future Aspirations: Going forward, Vocational Services hopes to create additional opportunities for our club members to share their expertise with members of the community through participation in Rotary Club of Cambria sponsored community workshops and electronic resources/links.
