Rotary Club of Cambria
Letter to Members - July 2021
Welcome to a new Rotary year!

We are excited about new beginnings, get-togethers and projects. Here are a few highlights on what to expect – and easy ways to join in – as we get things kicked off.

Watch for a monthly letter like this from us, as well as the regular club bulletins. We have lots to share and do!

We are looking forward to a wonderful year with you!

Patty, Christel and Linda
Celebrate with us at month end!
Come prepared to party at the last Rotary meeting of each month. We'll be celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and special milestones.

We've asked our Fine Master (Rick Low, shown here with member Kate Perry) to hone his chops and take center stage for our month-end party. Instead of giving him a bit of time each week, he'll have center stage for our special month-end parties.

If you have a special announcement for our first fab Friday on July 30 (or want to tell on a fellow member) let us know.

Our 50th lasts all year - Join the committee!
We kicked off our 50th anniversary with a special party – moving it from zoom to hybrid in a flurry of activity. We showcased our Charter member, Tom Tierney, and saw photos and stories from our club's colorful past. We announced the winner of our Ping Pong Palooza fundraiser, and enjoyed a champagne toast and special meal. Everyone went home with a goody box full of treats and a new Rotary pin custom made for our anniversary.

We want to do more in the months ahead and need ideas and volunteers to make it happen!

Some ideas:
  • spotlight past presidents and fun stories
  • learn how some of our projects got their start
  • trivia games using club history

Hybrid is the new buzz word
With encouragement from our members, our district and Rotary at large, we are maintaining our commitment to hybrid meetings. It has required an investment in figuring out the equipment and also the time and attention of our "tech" team to get it done every week.

Rotary has found hybrid meetings are helpful in recruiting and retaining members, reducing the cost to members of lunches each week, attracting off-site speakers and giving busy working members another option to stay involved in their clubs.

If you're curious about what it takes to set up and run a hybrid meeting, we are offering orientations at Rotary every week. Stop by the zoom station and check it out. Linda and Miguel will show you the ropes!

For more in-depth tech talk, see the resources below, compiled by Rotary to help set up for hybrid meetings.
Step-Down Party was so much fun!

Chuck Foerster, our outgoing president, arrived on the scene ready to let go and have some laughs. And so he did! The evening, choreographed by our own Otis Archie, included a special skit performed by Bruce and Rick, videos featuring his daughters with their best wishes to their dad, a message from the Past District Gov. Deb Lindon, special awards, and lots of fun and fellowship.
Chuck enjoys the show.
Paula receiving Peace Award.
Bruce and Rick ham it up, bringing lots of laughter.
Past District Gov. Deb Lindon has a heart-felt message to Chuck for his guidance of the club during the past year.

Janet Meyers and husband Jack enjoyed the celebration. Janet came dressed to party!
Lots of fun and fellowship at our Step-Down Celebration!
