Barbara Burns introduced Dennis Frahmann who is helping to organize the Cambria Film Fes val. Dennis is a journalist, writer and award-winning marketer who grew up in small towns in Wisconsin and now lives in Cambria, California. He is the author of three novels (Tales From the Loon Town Cafe, The Finnish Girl, and The Devil's Analyst) that involve a related cast of characters all connected to the same small town in northern Wisconsin.
Guest speakers Dennis Frahmann and Nancy Green spoke about Cambria’s first film festival. Nancy Green is a founder and director of the Cambria Center for the Arts. At our Rotary meeting today, our guest Scott Williams offered to be the graphic arts designer for the festival.
The project began with an idea from Alan Fraser, owner of the Love Story Project in Cambria, who reached out to Nancy Green to help him with the lm festival idea. The project has two initial sponsors: CCAT and the Cambria Tourism Board. They are asking for more sponsors and for volunteers from the community to carry out the project.
The theme for the first festival is Romance and Romantic Comedy. Several films will be shown throughout the festival at CCAT (Old Cambria Grammar School auditorium), Pewter Plough and the IMAX Theatre at Hearst Castle. An opening event will be held at CCAT and a closing champagne reception will be held at the foyer of the IMAX Theatre.
Organizers plan to sell categories of tickets, i.e. gold passes which include access to all events. There will also be levels of donations for contributors’ recognition.
