The Bakersfield East Rotary Club was chartered on December 23rd, 1952. This year, we are celebrating our 65th anniversary! Our club motto for 2017-18 is "We are 65 and we care".
If you can leave your stress behind for just one hour and are willing to have fun in the brotherhood and sisterhood of East Rotary, then you need to come to our meetings!
NEW MEMBER ALERT !!
Linda Sullenger
For those of you who have not met Linda yet, you crazy. Filled with all sorts of southern charm that you can only get in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, she is the Director of Community Investment at Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County. A worthy cause that, from the looks of it, would make Chris de Burgh oh so proud. (Laura Bush too)
Speaker: Larry "In and Out Like Hurricane Michael" Moxley
Larry Moxley was one of our speakers in September who loves our great State so much he moved to Florida so that he could come back here and remind us how dire our economic circumstances are. Thanks Larry, enjoy the hurricanes and we will be sure and ship a few homeless back East to remind you of what you are missing!
Speaker: David Milazzo
The Bakersfield Marathon - what a great way to promote Bakersfield and energize our community around a fantastic and well-organized event.
Bakersfield Marathon Fun Facts:
Monetary prizes are not offered because elite runners would race, snatch up the winnings and immediately leave.
It's not just a marathon. There is also a half marathon, 5k, and a half marathon relay.
Kevin Burton (yes, that Kevin Burton) thinks he can beat our very own Mike Brazell in a long distance race.
BERC meeting at Pioneer Village
How cool was it to meet in newly renovated meeting rooms at Pioneer Village at the Kern County Museum?
... almost as cool as seeing our esteemed BERC veterans tipping back on some more of "Grandpa's Hot Sauce." What seems odd is that Steve Gibbs is not there with them.
