Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Dave Washburn, the founder of the Kern County chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, joined us on Friday's meeting to educate BERC Rotarians on the mission and vision of the organization.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching millions of lives... one heart at a time. Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.

Aaron Markovits

When and why did you become a member of Rotary?
I joined Rotary in February 2010 to expand the network of people I knew for work and make some new friends with similar values. What got my attention was a service project Rotarians did benefitting people with disabilities (the field I worked in at the time)
What is your classification of our club?
I think it was last Rehabilitation but I always tell people Non-Profit Management as that is my profession.
Family information
Married for 20 years to Raquel Garcia Markovits She is a School Psychologists who keeps me on my toes!
Daughter Sarah Abigail is 12 years old in the 6th grade.
Hobby/What you do for fun
I like anything to do with the Dodgers-visited spring training a few times. I also like the LA Rams football team. I am playing a mobile version of Madden for fun and read a little here and there.
Anything that you would like to share
Joining Rotary has been good for me personally and professionally. I am indebted to many Rotarians for the contributions they have made in my life and the lives of my family. I am proud to be part of the best Rotary Club.
