Program

Today we heard from the United States Army Special Forces Association, Montana Chapter of the Devil’s Brigade.  This group serves as the Voice for the Special Forces Community; Perpetuating Special Forces Traditions and Brotherhood; Advancing the Public Image of Special Forces and, Promoting the General Welfare of the Special Forces Community.  In Montana, they serve as a much-needed reprieve for the fighters and their families.  Statistics show that the divorce rate among the special forces community is 75%.

The US Army Special Forces, known as the Green Berets are the one force that provides persistent presence around the world.  There are 7 groups of approximately 2,000 individuals (500 special forces and approximately 1,500 support staff) that cover specific regions around the world.  There are 12 men in each brigade, usually one senior member paired with a junior member for training, mentoring and succession planning.  On occasion, the groups are moved around to support other Regions depending on the circumstances.
There are two primary critical capabilities of the Special Forces Operations
  • Special Warfare – the execution of activities that involve a combination of lethal and nonlethal actions taken by a specially trained and educated force that has a deep understanding of cultures and foreign lingual, proficiency in small-unit tactics, and the ability to build and fight alongside indigenous combat formations in a permissive uncertain, or hostile environment.
  • Surgical Strike – the execution of activities in a precise manner that employ special operations forces in hostile, denied, or politically sensitive environments to seize, destroy, capture, exploit, recover or damage designated targets, or influence treats.
The club presented our speakers with a $2,500 check to use toward their program in Montana.
Girish Patel and his wife, Pragati were presented with a check for $5000 for their work with the Playful India Project.
Putting things into perspective is Brad Barnes and Pragati Patel.
