The Program
Steve Sanders introduced our guest speaker, Tim Gojich who owns Fit for Life Gym, just around the corner from the BMOA at 701 19th Street, on the corner of 19th and Q Streets. Tim has been a certified fitness professional for the past 18 years. He is a Precision Nutrition Coach, a Nutrition and Life Style Coach as well as a Golf Biomechanic Specialist.
Our speaker emphasized the need to eat a balanced diet consisting of as many whole foods as possible and each meal in moderation. He also stated that we should eat 80% of our meals at home, preparing them ourselves from the highest quality ingredients that we can. A calorie is not a calorie is not a calorie. Just because you burn 300 calories at the gym, that does not erase the 300 calories in that donut you just ate. We need to take in healthy calories. He also recommends HIT style exercises, that means High Intensity exercise for short periods of time, repeated. This helps fat burning by increasing metabolism. Our Speaker also believes that we should have restrictions about when we eat. He states that we should only eat during an 8-hour period during each day and then “fast” the remaining 16 hours. He recommends waiting as long as possible in the morning to eat, as this requires the body to use stored fat for energy. This will increase your fat burn and you will trim down and lose weight. So, if you don’t eat before you exercise in the morning and you wait as long as possible, say until noon, you will burn more fat for energy.
