Today was President Garro Ellis’ first day in office and he presented two Waterman Grant Recipients with gifts: $5,000 to the RM Pyles Boys Camp to help finish a cabin, Adam Bell. $31,400 was presented to Koral Hancharick with the Buena Vista Museum to help complete an air conditioning unit project.
This year is downtown rotary’s 100th year and we will celebrate with some type of extravaganza this year, perhaps expanding on the already wildly popular Havana Nights. President Ellis presented his board members with 100 years of service t-shirts and displayed a photo of the first president of the Bakersfield Rotary Club, Vance Anderson.
He went over the primary focus of this coming year: Inspire Motivate Cultivate and Create; Increase and Retain Membership; Brand Awareness; 100 Year Extravaganza; and Strategic Plan to Increase Waterman Foundation.
President Ellis wrapped up the meeting with a magic trick Glass Half Full / Half Empty and stated:
“We will always have failures and successes; but as long as we are willing, we must have faith in our ability through God we trust. Through connections, we can change the world."
