Please sign up for the Margarita Party hosted by Lou and Sheryl Barbich on September 13th. Rotary will be dark that day so be sure to show up at the Barbich residence.
Colleen gave a shout out to Ken Secor for his diligence in taking photos for the on-line Club Directory. If you haven’t had your photo taken or you don’t like the one Ken found on the internet of you (you better go check out what he found out there!), upload your own or send a new one to Ken.

Jon Sampson introduced our speaker, Kat Clowes. Kat is the CEO and Founder of March Consulting, a college and career firm that helps students with college applications and career searches. She is the past president of the Twilight Club. She is also an incredibility talented Actor, Singer, Stitch Ninja and channels an awesome inner Muppet!
Kat talked to us about Generation X. Approximately 4 years ago she discovered that the students she was providing guidance to were coming up with very different needs and presented themselves differently than she had ever seen before. Gen Z’s have grown up with a cell phone in their hand and their eyes fixated on the screen. They are on their phones constantly and tend to exhibit anxiety symptoms when separated from their phones. Kat says these kids are “over” parented, protected in ways we have not seen before. This has caused a generation with a lack of initiative. This generation does not know 9-11, they are risk adverse, their lives are “scheduled,” they are tested to the “Nth degree”, they share too much, lacking filters for what is appropriate and what is not (social media).
So how will this affect those of us in business when we start hiring this generation? Teach them, train them, invest in them. Share your wisdom, be patient. It will be important to set expectation and then ensure the follow through.
