Lynn and Patti Blystone celebrated 55 years of wedded bliss on March 21, the first day of spring and the Persian New Year.

Good news and announcements
Bryon Schaefer showed a great short video on the Career Expo 2019, which allowed middle and high school aged kids, find out about jobs in Bakersfield.
Bob Burdette and his promotional item company, Multi Business Systems, is celebrating 55 years in business- congratulations... and thanks for the cookies.
Congratulations to Robin Mangrin who received her Paul Harris Fellow pin.
President did a recap of last week's meeting, held at The Blvd. Last week's Guest Spoke Editor, Ken Beurmann, failed to mention the results of other competitions held that day. Stan Eschner and Colleen McGauley trounced her competition in Bocce Ball, Sue Benham won $100 (or $1 depending on who you talk to) in the Trivia Contest, Jeff Gutierrez announced there were no fatalities on the ropes course, apparently, Jordon Kaufman is a pool hustler, and Steve Sanders reported that Ben Stinson or Ray Karpe won the bowling tournament... it was that close.
Mike Chertok sold some BSO gala tickets to Rotary members, and a couple of those ticket holders won big.

The program
Wendy Duncan and Dr. John Graneto from California Health Sciences University (CHSU), visited us today to tell us about their privately funded university in Clovis, CA.
CHSU is the first university of its kind in the Central Valley. CHSU was established in 2012 and is committed to health sciences research and improving the access and delivery of quality health care in the San Joaquin Valley.
In this new building, they will have a simulation center, complete with a replica doctor's office and a seven-room hospital wing. It will be very hi-tech, for instance, instead of operating on cadavers, they use Virtual Reality technology featuring holographic bodies.
CHSU students learn about contemporary pharmacy practice and how to provide primary patient care in collaboration with physicians. This is what separates their students from other pharmacy schools in California. Students will refine their clinical skills under direct supervision of practicing pharmacists and physicians during rotations at hospitals, clinics and community pharmacies. CHSU’s team-based learning curriculum includes:
