Good news:

Kat Cowles had absolutely the best experience in the PLANET at Jim Burke Ford.  Her husband’s truck was stolen and Joe Hay knows someone who knows someone and they were able to deliver the most perfect vehicle. (All of us wondered if maybe Joe had something to do with the theft?)

Justin Salters announced that B3K had a huge win in the aerospace industry. B3K will be collaborating with the  Mojave Aerospace Accelerator (MAACC, pronounced “Mach”) Fund.  The hope is that this solidifies East Kern County and the Antelope Valley as a globally leading aerospace and defense innovation, testing and production hub.

The Downtown Rotary will be holding a service project at the CSUB edible garden on March 15 at 10AM.  Families are welcome.  For more information, reach out to Jean Luc Slagle.

Where in the world is a rotary? Ukraine! Ukraine is the second largest economy in Eastern Europe with 33 million people. Ukraine boasts the deepest metro station in the world and the very first assigned the constitution. Most importantly, its national flower is a sunflower. It has 62 Rotary clubs with 1100 members.

Our next happy hour will be held March 20 at the Phoenix, previously known as Sundale Country Club.. Dr. Girish Patel will be welcoming us to enjoy fellowship!

Program:

Today's program was opened by Miguel Garcia, the teacher and faculty advisor for Ridgeview High School Virtual Enterprise. Two teams of six students each presented us with 10-minute presentations. These students demonstrated exceptional skill and have placed in state level competitions. They will be taking their show on the road to New York in April.

The first team has created DriveSmart, which is an innovative technology that will keep drivers safe on the road. This enhanced dash cam offers additional features such as real-time distraction avoidance. The second project was Unleashed, which has a goal to enhance the lifestyle and well-being of pets through a holistic approach that focuses on health and nutrition.

Both teams talked about their organizational structure, short term, midterm, and long-term goals, and an analysis of the current business climate both in the world and within the virtual enterprise space.. The students identified and mitigated business risks, including liabilities and supply chain issues. They talked about their plans for marketing their products. Finally, they discussed financial highlights, including the balance sheet, profit and loss and the expected revenue.

The high school students' presentations were impressive and filled those in attendance with optimism for the future.  Their skills and demonstrated talent and potential in the next generation.

Drivesmart team narrowly beat the Unleashed team. Their electric blue leisure suits were the tipping point.
Unleashed team were still quick on their feet, even after the Temblor grub.
The Drive Smart faux camera was passed around much to the puzzlement of the crowd.
The prospect of craft beer with lunch made for a decent crowd.
