Good News & Announcements
Ken announced that Jon Sampson was doing such a great job running the meetings that he felt the need to hire an IT person to help run future Rotary meetings. Thanks President Ken!
(As a millennial I can vouch for that.)
Ken reminded us of how old we are by reminiscing about using AOL instant messenger in an attempt to talk to girls. How did
we get on this topic???

Program
Kat Clowes and Robin Paggi presented on the topic of Managing Generation Z. Our presenters recently published a book on the topic.
Generation Z grew up with standard testings and benchmarks as part of their education.
Program Highlights:
Generation Z began in 1996. This generation was born into a world full of safety measures and no privacy, most of it stemming from the growth in technology and societal changes after 9/11.
61 million members makeup Generation Z, more racially diverse than past generations. They never lived without a phone
Lived in a world with instability, including the crash of 2008 and the economic fallout. As such, Gen Z is very risk adverse
Clear expectations are needed to set the work standard. Also, this generation has limited work experience, so employers may be the first to give them a job.
Employers should use social media platforms, such as Instagram, Twitter, and SnapChat to connect with this generation
A realistic job preview is helpful to ensure this generation understands the expectations of the position are and what is expected of them. Don't just tell them they'll get dirty doing this job, show them a photo of an actual employee.
Despite not having extensive work experience, the generation has been active in other extracurricular activities which translate into skills that employers can utilize.
Provide Generation Z employees constant feedback, develop a career plan, and give them small wage increases to help them feel like they are moving forward.
