This week's program

"It starts with food!"

Glen Ephrom, Executive Director of the Golden Empire Gleaners stopped by to talk about The Gleaners. Started in February 1985, a Bible study group of four men reflected on the goodness The Lord had brought to their lives and the debt of gratitude they felt.  They were inspired to do something in return.  Their vision was to glean from local farms and fields the estimated 300 million pounds of food that was going to waste annually and to establish a neighborhood food pantry from which food could be distributed to the needy.

Throughout its 26 year history the Golden Empire Gleaners has fed millions of Kern County residents.  Last year alone, over 200,000 people were served by distributing 2 million pounds of food.  Currently the Gleaners averages 18,000 people per month served.

The Gleaners survives 100% on donations and business partnerships.

Tracy Kiser & Kristen Barnes are bringing back our big fundraiser of the year- Havana Nights! Thursday, June 21st at Dr. Shambaugh's home in Old Stockdale.
Steve Sanders casts shade on President Steve's habitual absenteeism.
A nickname so good, he had to put it on a shirt. David Denison, owner of Alert Disaster and Restoration.
We presented the Gleaners a giant check for $1000.
Pretty good turn out for the Gleaner presentation.
Today marked the opening of baseball season. Someone went to a lot of trouble to create a graphic to commemorate it.
