
Andrea Hansen is an arts administrator, wife, mother, and fellow Rotarian living in Bakersfield. She is the Executive Director of the Kern Dance Alliance, an advocacy organization supporting and promoting the arts in Kern County. She also serves on the boards of The Historic Bakersfield Fox Theater and the CSUB Arts and Humanities Executive Advisory Committee. She spends her free time with her family (husband- Michael) and friends creating new memories, laughing loudly, and always finding time to dance (whether in the kitchen with her kids, on the dance floor, or on some of the most famous stages in America).

Good News & Announcements:
1. Kristen Watson reported that Dr. Sonya Christian was announced as the new Chancellor of the California Community College system.
2. Pat Collins commended Toni Harper on her monumental efforts to secure a $5.5 million dollar grant from the Heart Foundation to the Mercy/Memorial Hospitals.
3. Traco Matthews announced that his grandfather turned 100 years young! He states his grandfather is a man of many things, including a WWII veteran and a pastor.
4. Randy Saunders reported that the Boy Scouts will celebrate their 113th birthday by hosting their "Distinguished Citizen's Dinner" on February 23.
5. Duane Keathley shared that the former East Hills Mall has been demolished and plans have now been approved for a new outdoor shopping center.
6. Kern County all-Rotary club meeting is this Thursday, March 2 at CTEC.
7. There is no Rotary on March 9.

10. ROAMING ROWDY - Pat Collins traveled to Mexico with his family. He quickly figured out there were two types of experiences - one for those that "vacationed" and one for those that were on a "trip". The latter inferring that "trips" are for those traveling with children and "vacations" are for those without the kids. Pat experienced a "trip" with his grandchildren while his children experienced a "vacation".
Jim Damian traveled as a guest with Jeff Gutierrez and his company to a hockey game.
Jim Damian also experienced a riveting performance by the Blue Man Group in Las Vegas, where no one, including his youngest daughter Clara, enjoyed the show.
11. NEW MEMBER: Steve Llyod introduced Ryan Crowl as the newest member of the Bakersfield Downtown Rotary. Ryan is the President of Lloyd's Aviation. He is educated in aircraft management, a seasoned pilot, and a business leader in Bakersfield. Welcome Ryan!

Justin Salters introduces Gabe Ulloa from the Blue Zone Project. The Blue Zone Project is a global community wellness program rooted in improving health data. Bakersfield is the latest city seeking certification to become a "Blue Zone", a 5-year initiative focused on creating healthy places, people, and policy. Gabe states that the program intends to promote wellness with a proactive approach on creating a healthier Bakersfield. Gabe asks Rotary to become involved by offering business partnerships, volunteers, and financial support.
