CALM’s Holiday Lights display will open on November 25 and continue through December 31, every night except Christmas, from 5 to 10 PM.
“Christmas at the Village” will be held at Kern Pioneer Village on Saturday, December 11, from noon until 4:00 PM.

Gunnar Hand, Senior Urban Designer at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill presented today’s program about the High Speed Rail Station Area Plan.
The City of Bakersfield, in partnership with and funding from the California High Speed Rail Authority, has begun the process to develop a HSR Station Area Plan for Downtown Bakersfield. The planning process addresses two potential station locations, one near the Amtrak station and the other one near Garces Circle and F Street.
“Making Downtown Bakersfield” is the project’s title and reflects the vision to make Downtown Bakersfield more connected, compact and walkable with a mixed use of uses, services, activities and destinations.
Downtown Bakersfield has an excellent street grid and many opportunities for infill development on underutilized parcels.
The best way to optimize economic development downtown is to have strong pedestrian and transit connections to the HSR station.
