Leslie Golich is the Director of Public Affairs and Brand Communications for Kaiser Permanente. She became a member of THE Rotary Club of Bakersfield in 2015. She serves on a number of non-profit boards and enjoys volunteering in the community.
Jeff Gutierrez was called out by his personal trainer the Big, Bad Jimmy D. BBJD shared with the group that Jeff has been training hard and will be participating in his 1st Triathlon the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Michele Chantry, on the other hand, is still working on that training “thing” and will be joining the BBJD in the Spring for her 1st Triathlon.
This day in history is dedicated to Higgins, aka Benji! His first debut was on this day in 1974.

- Happy Birthday George Grainger, he’s turning 89 tomorrow! Try and top that!
- Bob Burdette is celebrating 55 years in business at MBS and tried to buy off Prez Garro with MBS logo items, Prez wasn’t having any of it and fined him $55.
- Mike Chertok was wearing his cardinal red USC (the other USC) shirt and matching socks in light of the recent win by the Gamecocks over Georgia 20 to 17. The cardinal red table napkins were also on display in recognition of the win.
This week's "Not feeling physically inadequate yet?" segment: Josh Sherley
Josh was born and raised in Bako, went to BHS and then on to Fresno State and returned to Bakersfield where he now works for Cushman and Wakefield. Josh wrestled and played football in high school. He started wrestling when he was 6 years old and won the State Championship at 160 pounds as a Senior at BHS. In football, he played both defensive back and then safety. He was personally responsible for 1 of only 2 losses that BHS football experienced during his 4 years in high school. At Fresno State, he chose football over wresting as he claimed it was “easier.” His grades were good enough for him to graduate with a degree in business.
Program:
Today’s program was Catherine Anspach from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Every 34 minutes, across the world, a child is diagnosed with a life-threating illness. Make-A-Wish kids are not necessarily terminal, although some do die.
There are several categories of Wishes. They include: I wish to go… I wish to have… I wish to meet… I wish to be… and I wish to give… Simply granting a Wish, can give the child Hope that they may not have had before.
Win Eaton shared a very personal, moving story about his own daughter Lydia, who was a Wish kid 15 years ago when he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. The Make-A-Wish program changed their lives and the life of their daughter. Win made a $100 donation to Make-A-Wish and encouraged the rest of us to match his donation.
Another way to help is to give during the Heroes and Helmets event sponsored by the Bakersfield Fire Department.
On Friday, November 15, 2019 Downtown Bakersfield, CA outside of the KGET-TV Studios for Heroes & Helmets and support Wish Kids in our area! Inspired by Wish Kid Ryan, Heroes & Helmets brings firefighters, wish kids and their families along with our entire community, together for a day of giving to help spark joy and return hope to children in Kern County who battle critical illness. The donation drive will begin at 7:00 a.m. and continue through 1:30 p.m. but you can also join us for our "Drive-Thru" lunch between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Businesses can also “Adopt a Wish Kid” and raise the $7,500 it costs to grant a Wish
