PROGRAM:
This week's program featured the BHS Virtual Enterprise Team. Virtual Enterprise is a student-centered business simulation with a special emphasis on teaching students the necessary entrepreneurial skills to be successful in a global economy. Students work collaboratively to develop a “virtual” company that not only strives to be financially successful but addresses a social, environmental, or technological need.
The Team this year created “Anomalous” a fruit juice company that uses produce with “anomalies” that cannot be used for whole fruit sales but are just fine for juicing. Bakersfield High School has won the state championship two of the past three years and is currently the defending national champion. The students will be traveling to New York for the National event in April, competing against 70 other Teams from across the Country.
President Steve informed the group that our Rotary Club will donate $1,000 to help them with their trip.
