Our guest speaker, Dolores Huerta, last week received an extended standing O after being introduced by a nervous Lizette Patterson.
Dolores is an American labor leader and civil rights activist who, with Cesar Chavez, is a co-founder of the National Farmworkers Association, which later merged with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee to become the United Farm Workers.
While not everyone at the meeting shared all of her political outlooks, they were respectful of her commitment to representing the American farmworker.
This editor was a little disappointed in the softball question and answer period. But, overall, the presentation was very enlightening. Dolores is a very charismatic speaker and is passionate about her beliefs. The presentation was both informative and entertaining.
