TBC is moving all its downtown operations to the Pegasus Road facility. This is a very positive thing for the 60 staff members. The downtown building is not being sold, they are leasing space to interested parties.
Steve Sanders shared a very special video. After hearing Tom Corson speak about the Dream Center, Jim Blom was so moved by the presentation that he donated a car to a very special client of the Dream Center. She is a single mother, currently working on her AA degree and she couldn’t have been more surprised and deserving. Thanks Jim for showing all of us what it really means to be a Rotarian!!!
How's business?
President Ray rolled out the first round of How’s Business by surprising Ken Carter with the question. Ken indicated that overall the real estate market is doing well.
Program
Our Program today was Be in Bakersfield, presented by Shannon LaBare and Austin Smith. These 2 powerhouses have too many projects to list but the thing all those projects have in common is their focus on changing Bakersfield’s narrative, encouraging creative entrepreneurship and pushing an overall sense of home town pride. Shannon is the founder of Purveyor House, a marketing firm that works with businesses to brand, market and develop through creative strategy and design. Austin and his wife Anna moved back to Bakersfield in 2014 to found Sage Equities, a boutique commercial real estate services firm with a mission to help revitalize Downtown. They are working on a creative class solution to bring highly educated and knowledgeable workers to Bakersfield. They are engaging in grassroots marketing channels to get people to be PROUD of living in Bakersfield. What is your “BE” in Bakersfield? Why do you choose to live here? Find your “BE” and spread the word!
