Prez Garro profiled me this week in the "What's Up In Business" segment. I couldn't take notes, but here is a brief profile.
Graphic Designer for over 40 years in Bakersfield. My studio specializes in all things "print and web". Originally named Rainbow Graphics, I changed the name in the 80's to Willis Design Studios. Recently, in an effort to make things easier on me, and so I can come and go as I please, I took on a partner named Jennifer Williams. An amazingly talented graphic designer herself, she also is an accomplished photographer, allowing us to expand into commercial photography as well.

Jordan Kaufman introduced our guest speakers today from the United Way.
United Way of Kern County leads a movement to improve community conditions in education, health and financial stability.
They deliver programs and services to enhance the lives of Kern County residents.
They bring donors, volunteers, advocates, and other stakeholders together to build powerful and sustainable coalitions and partnerships.
United Way's focus is to improve Education, Health and Financial Stability in Kern County by:
Enabling everyone to give and invest the funds where they are needed the most
Organize people and advocate to change systems on behalf of those whose voice may not otherwise be heard
Empower everyone to volunteer and maximize their impact on the lives of others
Their main fund raiser is called "A Chocolate Affair". It is a fundraising formal event showcasing the finest and most innovative uses of chocolate in our region. There will be live music, live and silent auctions, dinner, drinks, prizes and lots more. The money raised at this event will benefit United Way of Kern County's Early Childhood Development programs.
This year UWKC has the honor of supporting College Heights Elementary School students and their ‘Boys With A Purpose, Gentlemen’s Club’. The purpose of this group is to teach young men how to dress, conduct themselves like gentlemen and find their purpose in life. They are also taught life and social skills which will help these young men build character, integrity and self-respect.
The primary objective of this project, which aligns with United Way’s mission, is to raise a child in such a way that our community and culture are strengthened.
Project Objectives include but are not limited to:
Provide field trips to 4-year universities to promote higher education
