Good News & Announcements
Tech giant and semi-pro photographer, Ken Secor, will be available before and after each meeting with his camera to take headshots for the Club Runner directory. This a great way for new and old members to put a name to a face! So do it! Say cheese!
PrograM
Our new president, Ray Watson, started by thanking his predecessors and his support staff for the year.
He went on to talk about his visit to Toronto for the annual convention. Going on and cracking wise about the various entertainment and presentations. On the other hand, there was an impressive list of speakers including; former first lady of the United States Laura Bush, an advocate for literacy, health care, and human rights, and Helen Clark, former prime minister of New Zealand and former administrator of the United Nations Development Program.
Other speakers included Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization; Ann Gloag, founder of the Gloag Foundation and Freedom From Fistula Foundation; and Caryl Stern, president and CEO of UNICEF USA.
And her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, made a special appearance during the opening ceremony.
New Projects for the Year:
Havana Nights is back on! Stay tuned for details.
Our international project will have to do with El Porvenir, an organization dedicated to clean drinking water in Nicaragua.
Membership will continue to be an important project, replacing retiring members and growing our club. President Ray encouraged to bring prospective members to meeting, to witness our fine organization.
Ray is going to introduce a new segment into each meeting, tentatively called "How's Business?", where members can talk about their business.
Cheers to the coming new year. And make yourself available to help out with club infrastructure!
